Sunday, December 5, 2010 THE DALLAS POST PAGE 9 PHOTOGRAPHS DISPLAYED AT LIBRARY The December exhibit at the Back Mountain Memorial Library's Art Display Wall is a collec- tion of photography by Carole Kennelly of Trucksville. Kennelly became interested in photog- raphy in her early 20s when she lived in England. After purchasing her first SLR camera, she then took an evening class to learn basic camera techniques. Some of these photographs of areas throughout Europe are featured in her exhibit; as well as pictures from her family trip to Acadia National Park in Maine and Seneca Lake. Her favorite photograph depicts a view look- ing through trees out to the bay. ROTARY CLUB DONATES TO FOOD PANTRY At a recent meeting of the Rotary Club of Dallas, the theme for the evening was raising funds and food to help the Back Mountain Food Pantry meet the needs of dozens of families for Thanksgiving and Christmas. A mini-auction was held followed by a raffle. More than $500 was raised and more than 400 pounds of food were donated. DHS club pays tribute to veterans The Student Leadership in Civics Club at Dallas High School held its second annual Veterans Day Commemoration Ceremony on November 11. The program included a brief history of Veteran’s Day, music and a multimedia dis- play. The main component of the program was a panel dis- cussion with 12 local veterans. Their insight into service and civic duty brought the crowd to its feet numerous times and brought tears to the eyes of many. It was a powerful ceremony that paid tribute to the men and women who have served their country in the armed forces.
