Horlacher girls are champions! fter Greater Wyoming Area spoiled the unblemished re- cord of Bob Horlacher 9 and 10-year old girls with a 13-12 victory on Monday in Beaumont, the Back Mountain girls bounced back to win the District 31 championship by way of an 18-11 victory over GWA on Wednesday night. Prior to Monday’s meeting between the two District 31 teams, Horlacher was undefeated while Greater Wyoming Area had one loss. 1 Wednesday's victory is the first time in nearly 10 years the Bob Horlacher Little League, which fields approximately 300 players a season, has won a championship banner. Sydney Faux got the championship victory from the mound. Faux’s efforts were aided by the hot bats of Sarah Traver, who went 3-for-3 with a walk and four runs scored, Paige Mokychic who was 4-for-4 with five RBI and Daniel Krispin who was 2-for-4 with a grand slam home rum. Defensively, catcher Maddie Kelley and second baseman Talia Kozoloski were outstanding. The Horlacher team now advances to sectional competition. Joe Kelley is manager of the Bob Horlacher team. WYOMING AREA 9 Back Mountain pitcher Jen Ringsdorf went the distance and picked up the win with five strike- outs to lead Back Mountain to a 10-9 squeaker over Greater Wyoming Area. Back Mountain scattered nine hits and was led at the plate by Kami McGee who had a double and a single and Jen Ringsdorf who had two singles. Kylee Saba added a double and Kelly Snyder, Kirsten Cope, Lia Giampietro and Olivia Mennig all had sin- gles. Greater Wyoming Area pitch- ers Bree Bednarski and Lauren Maloney combined for four strikeouts. Lauren Maloney was 3-for4 with three singles and Jules DeAngelo was 2-for-3 with a 3-run home run (in the bottom of the sixth inning) and a double for four RBI. Nicole Wright added two sin- gles and Bree Bednarski, Heather Nametro and Grace Gorber each added a single. BACK MOUNTAIN 16 NORTHWEST 4 Back Mountain pitcher Jen Ringsdorf picked up the win with nine strikeouts while allowing just two hits as Back Mountain cruised to a 164 trampling of Northwest. ‘baugh added a single DISTRICT 31 MAJORGIRLS SOFTBALL Ringsdorf leads BMT Back Mountain pounded out 16 hits and was led at the plate by Kami McGee who was 3-for4 with three doubles, Kirsten Cope who was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a single and Jen Ringsdorf who was also 3—for-4 with two tri- ples and a double. Sydney Kern was 2-for-3 with a triple and a sin- gle and Lindsey Jacobs was also 2-for-3 with two singles. Kylee Sa- ba added two singles and Kelly Snyder had a single. Northwest pitcher Kelsey Yus- tat went the distance, striking out four. Alexa Smith had a dou- ble and Olivia Piestrak added a single for Northwest. BACK MOUNTAIN 18 WEST PITTSTON 3 Back Mountain pitcher Jen Ringsdorf picked up the win with six strikeouts while allowing just three hits as Back Mountain needed just four innings to crush West Pittston, 18-3. Back Mountain scattered eight hits and was led at the plate by Kelly Snyder who had a triple and a single. Olivia Mennig smacked a triple and Kaley Egan added a double. Kami McGee, Kirsten Cope, Sydney Kern and Cathe- rine Dillon each added singles. The Orioles advanced to the finals by defeating the Phillies and Athletics. The Yankees got to the championship game by defeating the Mets and Red Sox. The Orioles team is comprised of 9 and 10 year-old players from the Dallas and Lake-Lehman school districts as well as from Gate of Heaven.
