Baker also led the team in hit- ting, going 3-for-3 with a home run and a double. Red Sox 5 As4 Josh Orlandini pitched six strong innings, picking up the win and Ryan Martin got the save as the Red Sox edged the A’s, 54. Martin also clubbed a home- run for the Red Sox and JD Bar- rett and Josh Orlandini also had hits. The A’s were led by Derek Pe- ters with two hits, including a double. Tanner Gatusso added two hits and Aaron Yurko and Josh Holdredge each had dou- bles. Pirates 14 Giants 5 Kyle James struck out eight as the Pirates defeated the Giants, 14-5. James also added three hits, in- cluding a double and triple and six runs batted in. Jack Tomko al- so had a double and a single and scored three runs. Byron Oldeack contributed a double and triple. Tommy Williams had three hits, including a triple and Antho- ny and Christopher Huntington both contributed extra base hits for the Giants. As 15 Yankees 5 The A’s defeated the Yankees by the score of 15-5 with Ed Hontz picking up the win on the mound. The A’s bats were led by Aaron Yurko and Derek Peters who each had four hits. Spencer Bowanko and Tanner Gattuso had three hits each in the win. Gattuso also had the A’s first home run of the season. Losing pitcher for the Yankees was Cody Coolbaugh. Colin Per- tyl, Owen Sprau, Carl Markowski and David Schuster had hits for the Yankees. Astros 11 Yankees 0 Nick Kocher threw a two-hitter and had seven strikeouts as the Astros opened their season with an 11-0 over the Yankees. Kocher helped his own cause with a double and three RBIs. Jor- den Finch added two hits with four RBIs. Carl Markowski and Owen Sprau singled for Yankees. Red Sox 12 Giants 9 Jayson Strauseer clubbed a three-run homer as the Rex Sox slipped by the Giants, 12-9. Ryan Martin had three hits, including two doubles and JD Barrett had two hits, including a double in the win. Josh Orlandini and Jason Anderson also had two hits for the winners. Giants were led by Chris Hun- tington and Tommy Williams each with two hits. Jackson Shav- er slammed a double in the loss. Aiden McLaughlin had the only hit in the game in the loss. Orioles 12 Rangers 2 Adam Niznik allowed only two hits and struck out five over four innings as the Orioles de- feated the Rangers, 12-2. Donald Michalisin and Ray Ostroski had the lone hits for the Rangers. Donald Michalisin and Christian Wargo pitched well in the loss. The Orioles offense spread out 14 hits in the victory. David Simpson banged out three hits with a home-run and double. Nick Mathers ripped a double and triple for the winners. Matt Moleski and Kyle Archer dou- bled and Charles Giacometti and Chandler Caruso added hits for the Orioles.
