PAGE 8 THE DALLAS POST Sunday, February 28, 2010 Back Mountain Memorial Library Auction Committee starts planning 2010 event and seeks volunteers The Back Mountain Memorial Library Auction Committee members met in January to begin the extensive task of planning the 2010 Library Auction. The auction needs a person, group of people or a family will- ing to plan the Children’s Game area. If anyone is interested in making the auction enjoyable for youngsters, they are asked to con- tact the library at 675-1182 for more information. Anyone who enjoys gardening and would like to help with the plant booth is asked to bring some friends to the next auction meeting and find out how they can be part of the 2010 auction. Call the library for information on how to help with baking, car- pentry work, serving food to vol- unteers, auction set up and tear down, ground work, parking cars, polishing and cleaning, pric- ing items in Odds and Ends. Volunteer for an hour, a day or all week. Everyone is welcome to help with this long-standing tra- dition in the Back Mountain. Donations will now be accept- ed for Nearly Olde, The Gazebo, Cottage Keepers, A Tisket a Tas- ket and Odds and Ends. Nearly Olde Booth, which is a long-time favorite booth of auc- tion participants, sells vintage glassware, silver, china, jewelry, linens and collectibles. Costume jewelry is a big attraction in the Nearly Olde Booth and baseball cards of all kind are eagerly sought by young boys on family night. World Day of Prayer set World Day of Prayer will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 5, at Mount Carmel Church in Lake Silkworth. Meat loaf dinner set A meat loaf dinner and bake sale will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, at the Loyalville United Methodist Church. Cost is $8 for adults and $3.50 for children age 12 and under. Take-outs are available by calling 477-3521 and leaving a message with your name, phone number, number of dinners requested and pick-up time. Soup and Scripture set A Soup and Scripture will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 15, at the Lehman-Ide- town United Methodist Church. Songwriter will perform Award-Winning Shenandoah Valley Songwriter Andrew McKnight will perform from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 28, at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Wyoming Val- ley, Church Road at Mount Olivet Road and Frances Slocum State Park, Wyoming. Odds and Ends has been around for a long time and bargain hunters return night after night to hunt for use- ful items, toys, kitchenware and holiday items. Anyone who is moving, clean- ing house, emptying cottages, basements or attics is asked to let the auction committee be the re- cipient of any unwanted items.
