Serving the communities of the Dallas and Lake-Lehman School Districts | www.mydallaspost.com After 27 Building's owner says property not sold but deal is in progress. By REBECCA BRIA rbria@timesleader.com Tom Daniels has owned Siani’s Cleaners and Tailors in Shaver- town for 27 years. But, as of Feb. 5, the fate of the business is uncertain. That’s the day Daniels received a 90-day no- tice to vacate the premises. Da- niels said his landlords, the own- ers of Dreier Auto Sales, told him they sold the property to a devel- oper. Dreier Auto Sales is located on Route 309 near Siani’s Clean- ers. It is rumored that a new bank will be built on the land, Daniels said. “I guess the opportunity came for them to sell and I'm the one who has to leave,” he said. “It’s not like living in an apartment; you can move out within a week, you know. This is a business that has been established.” Daniels, 65, of Harveys Lake, said 27 years ago he was working for Siani’s Cleaners in Plains Township when the owners of the cleaners put their Shaver- town location up for sale. Daniels and his then-wife pur- chased the business. One year lat- er, the couple divorced and Da- niels has been running the busi- ness by himself ever since. He has no employees and does all of the dry cleaning, plus alterations, himself. Diane Dreier, who owns Dreier Auto Sales with her husband, Jeff, said they did not sell the property but that a deal is in pro- gress. “There are things in the works but nothing is final yet,” Dreier said. “We did tell Tom we were giving him a 90-day notice but it wasn’t a done deal yet.” Dreier said she and her hus- band purchased the property Sia- years, Siani's ordered to leave building ni’s Cleaners is on about two and a half years ago. Daniels has been renting from them since then, but he never had a lease, Dreier said. “I will tell you my husband and I were concerned about giving Tom notice because he’s been in business a long time and certain- ly that would be a difficult thing for him to handle,” Dreier said. That’s exactly what hap- pened to Kristin Summa, of Lehman, when her cousin Jill Radzinski sent the text. Rubbing elbows with big- time athletes is nothing new to Radzinski, who is in Van- couver, British Columbia, serving as the athletic trainer for the United States Olympic women’s ice hockey team. A 1985 graduate of Dallas High School where she starred in field hockey, Rad- zinski has taken a leave of ab- sence from her job as an ath- letic trainer at the University of California Davis Campus in Sacramento to work at the Olympics. Summa has been texting Radzinski throughout the first week of the 2010 Olympics in | Vancouver.
