Born in Edwardsville, she was a member of the first class grad- uating from Wyoming Valley West High School. She was also a graduate of Wilkes College. She was a teacher at Wyoming Valley West High School, retiring after a career-spanning 35 years in the school’s English Depart- ment. She had taught the first grade for over 42 years at Lemon School District, the Lehman School District at the Meeker School, the Wilkes-Barre Area School District at the Hazle Street School, the Courtright Avenue School and, prior to her retirement in 1976, the Daniel J. Flood School, all in Wilkes-Barre. She was a member of the Ben- nett Derr United Methodist Church, Wilkes-Barre, and of the former Derr Memorial United Methodist Church, Wilkes-Barre. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, the Official Board, Serving as devotion chair- person, and a member and teach- er in the Sunday School of the Derr Memorial Church.
