PAGE 8 THE DALLAS POST Sunday, November 29, 2009 Fifth-graders build heritage The Back Mountain Memorial Library and Wycallis Elementary School joined forces to create a quilt that will hang in Wachovia Are- na in celebration of its 10th anniversary. Led by art teacher Caprice Ryman, the fifth-grade class of Fred Weaver at Wycallis Elementary worked diligently the past two weeks transforming plain, white quilt squares into colorful pieces of “heri- tage.” The students used fabric markers to design symbols of their heritage onto the fabric. Library aide Lois Noble then volunteered to complete the quilt before it heads off to the arena to hang with quilts from other Lu- zerne County Libraries. Children’s Librarian Janet Bauman explained that the students not only had fun designing the squares, but learned a little bit about each other’s heritage in the process.
