MANRIQUE-Dr. Jose V., 65, of Dallas, died Sunday, June 14, 2009 at home. Born in Rios Piedras, Puerto Rico, he was a graduate of the University of Valladolid, Spain, receiving his degrees in both pre- medical and medical studies. He completed his internship and res- idency in various New York City hospitals from 1968 to 1972. Dr. Manrique served with the U.S. Army Medical Corps from 1972 until 1974. In 1976, he began practicing on the staff of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Town- ship. From there, he became a staff member of Nesbitt, Nanti- coke, Mercy and Wilkes-Barre General Hospitals. He was cur- rently practicing as an associate of M.S.UR., M.D., Associates, JONATHAN S. She graduated from Dallas Township High School, Class of 1944 and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. She worked at General Hospi- tal for 30 years as a cardiac care nurse and finished her nursing career at Geisinger Hospital, working for 10 years in the educa- tion department as a cardiac care instructor. Surviving are her sons, Wil- liam, of Lake Township; James, of Mountain Top; daughter, Judith Martin Kasper, of Lehman Town- ship; six grandchildren; and a brother, Jack Cook.
