Elizabeth 'Besty’ Gover Betsy Gover receives teaching award from Wyoming Seminary Elizabeth “Betsy” Gover, of Dallas, a third-grade teacher at Wyoming Seminary Lower School in Forty Fort, received the prestigious Frances and Louis Maslow Award for excel- lence in teaching on Wednes- day, June 3, during the school’s eighth-grade commencement ceremony. Gover received the honor in recognition of her effective teaching, support of the pri- mary program and ideals of the school and her positive influ- ence on the lives of the stu- dents. Gover has taught third grade at the Lower School for 20 years and is the director of the Primary Division’s Respect and Responsibility program, which is designed to develop habits of empathy, understanding and good citizenship among the students. She also has served on the Curriculum Committee, Reading Committee, Social Studies Committee and the Pennsylvania Association of Private Academic Schools (PA- PAS) accreditation committee for the Lower School. Prior to joining Wyoming Seminary Lower School, Gover taught transitional, first and second-grade classes for six years at Dallas Elementary School. She also served as a substitute teacher at Sem be- fore joining the full-time facul- ty in 1989. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Wilkes University and is certi- fied in pre-kindergarten through sixth-grade education. She is in the process of com- pleting a master of science de- gree in educational develop- ment and strategies at Wilkes.
