Sisters named winners of 2009 Jefferson Awar Sisters Gina Pocceschi Boyle, of Sweet Valley, and Jacci Poc- ceschi Mosley, of Lauren Run, were named recipients of the 2009 Jefferson Award for the greater Luzerne County region at a luncheon held April 20 at the Woodlands Inn & Resort. The sisters started the Fallen Officers Remembered organiza- tion after their brother, Rodney Pocceschi, a member of the Vir- ginia Beach Special Operations Unit, was shot and killed in the line of duty. Among the char- ity’s endeavors are raising funds to provide scholarships to crim- inal justice students and bullet- proof vests to local police offi- cers who don’t have one or have an outdated or improperly fit- ting one. In less than six years, Boyle, 43, and Mosley, 41, have raised $100,000 and donated 76 fitted vests to officers with depart- ments throughout Luzerne, Lackawanna and Columbia counties. Sister Circle plans The Sister Circle of the Dal- las United Methodist Church will hold a special Women’s Sunday Service at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 3, at the church. The women of the church will participate in all aspects of the special service church service and a special guest speaker, Mrs. Viola Gom- mer, will present her sermon, "A Place at the Table" to the congregation. Refreshments will follow the church service. CUB SCOUTS CLEAN BACK MOUNTAIN TRAIL Members of Den 4 Bears of Cub Scout Pack 281 recently hiked the Back Mountain Trail, picking up trash along the way. This is the second time the Bears have hiked the trail and the second time they did their best to clean it up for the enjoyment of others.
