There will also be a matinee for school groups at 9:30 a.m. on Fri- day, March 7. Performing the principal roles in “Swan Lake” will be Ballet Northeast soloist Julie Degnan and Odette and guest profession- al artist Timothy Early as Prince Siegfried. Degnan, of Harveys Lake, is a student at Lake-Lehman High School. STUDENTS AT I'M BIG NOW DONATE TO LIBRARY This past December pre-school and kindergarten students at I'm Big Now Learning Center chose to donate new hardcover books to the Back Mountain Memorial Library instead of having a gift exchange. Scouts receive religious emblems Thirty-six Cub Scouts from Pack 232, Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas, were awarded their religious emblems on “Scout Sunday,” the first Sun- day in February, which this year commemorated the 99th anni- versary of Scouting in the U.S. Tiger and Wolf Cub Scouts earned their “Light of Christ” religious medal and the Bear and Webelos Cub Scouts earned their “Parvuli Dei” medal. Father Kevin Mulhern, pas- tor of Gate of Heaven Church, awarded the boys their medals. The Boy Scouts of Troop 232 also participated in the Scout Sunday event. TIDEY WINS DMS SPELLING BEE The Jane Stitzer Memorial Spelling Bee was held at Dallas Middle School recently with Nora Tidey, a seventh-grade student, winning the competition by correctly spelling “adolescent.” An- na Chinikaylo, an eighth-grade student, was the second place runner-up.
