There are those in our Back Mountain community who are now unemployed and struggling to meet everyday expens- es. Businesses are struggling to meet payrolls. Seniors who worry that the money that has been set aside for retire- ment may see those dollars evaporate before they could be used. Then there are those who continue to struggle, regardless of our economic en- vironment, to provide for themselves and their families the bare necessities in order to survive. Our Back Mountain community is ve- ry fortunate to be made up of so many caring people who contribute both their time and their finances to help those in need. We at the Back Mountain Food Pantry, are able to see, firsthand, the kindness and caring that makes our community a great place to live. Our pantry is experiencing a growing challenge to provide food for those in need, especially during these cold win- ter months. We are so grateful for all the food that has been donated by individuals, church- es, schools, service clubs and various or- ganized food drive sponsors. A growing number of businesses have offered their facilities as food drop-off sites. Please make a special effort to patro- nize these locations. Our households are now being chal- lenged financially; however, our pantry has been blessed with a giving spirit from the community - not only from indi- viduals, but we have received financial support from various organizations and foundations within our area. We are grateful! Our pantry is made up of more than 40 volunteers who donate their time and their work experiences toward the suc- cess of this food pantry effort in our Back Mountain Community. As president of our Board of Directors, I know, first hand, and appreciate all the kindness and caring that I see every day coming from our community. I want to say thank you to the commu- nity that supports this totally volunteer effort. Please continue to keep our growing need in your hearts and prayers.
