Courtney Devens added four points while the defense was led by Paige Evans, Megan Miller, MaKen- na Bryant, Brianna Rinehimer and Caitlyn Pike. The Heels were led in scoring by Sara Lojewski with nine points. In addition, the Heels had scoring support from Carley Per- loff with four points and Rachel Maniskas with twopoints. Jack Tomko and Spencer Bowanko added four points each. 5th GRADE BOYS SKILLS COMPETITION Dallas Youth Basketball recently held its fifth grade boys skills competition. Jack Tomko won first place in the free throw event while Tanner Gattuso came in sec- ond place and Ryan Martin third. Aaron Yurko won first place in layups, followed by Spencer Bowanko in second place and Adam Niznik in third place. 7th GRADE BOYS TOURNAMENT TEAM The Dallas Youth Basketball seventh grade boys tournament team lost a thrill- ing game to Plains-Solomon, 40-37. Chad DeBona led the offense with 11 points and Jory Brezinski added six points. Aaron Napkora scored five points while Matt Sa- ba added four. Dallas 7th grade girls are champions The Dallas seventh grade girls bas- ketball team slipped by Pittston Area, 32-29, last Sunday to claim the league championship. In playoff action on Sat- urday, the Lady Mountaineers defeat- ed Crestwood, 27-17. Leading the Back Mountain girls against Pittston Area were Katy Co- mitz and Sam Missal with nine points each followed by Michelle Thompson with eight points, Vanessa Parsons with four and Taylor Kelly with two. OT win for Sth grade he Dallas Middle School eighth grade girls basketball team grabbed the league championship last Sunday with a 51-36 overtime victory over St. Nick's. Leading the way for the Lady Mountaineers was Ashley Dunbar who led all scorers with 18 points and Tanner Engle- hart who went three-for-four from the free throw line, finish- ing the day with 15 points. Also aiding the Dallas victory were Rachel Olszewski with 14 points and Marlee Nelson and Alys- sa Menzel with two pointes each. In playoff action on Saturday, Dallas defeated Meyers, 40-15. Leading the scoring for Dallas was Ashley Dunbar with 18 points and Tanner Englehart with 10 points. Premiere level training from a pro- fessional and licensed coaching staff is offered with a strong emphasis on individual player development. Participants born after August 1, 1997 are eligible to try out. Regis- tration fees will be waived for players chosen from the tryout sessions. Horlacher Little League sets registration Registration for the Bob Horlacher Memorial Little League Baseball and Softball will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20, and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Old Beaumont School. The league is open to boys and girls who are 5 years old by May 1, 2009 up to 16 years of age. New players should provide a birth certificate. Cost is $25 for one child and $50 per family.
