The program is free and open to children of all ages. Space is limited and families are asked to register by calling the library at 675-1182. Featured speaker is the new team captain, Dave Gove, a grad- uate of Western Michigan Uni- versity who hails from Center- ville, Massachusetts. According to a story in The Times Leader, Gove came to the Penguins on January 31 after he was acquired from Carolina. He played in 36 regular season games, recording 15 goals and 22 points and added 12 points in 23 playoff games. Gove will talk to the families in attendance about the impor- tance of reading, about being a team player and about his career as a college and professional hockey player. Tux will then en- tertain the children with his anti- cs as Stuccio reads to the chil- dren. Gove, Tux and Stuccio will be available after the program to meet with the families, answer questions and sign hockey mem- orabilia. SUBMITTED PHOTO Scoutmaster Allan Stroud was honored recently. Allan Stroud is named national award winner Allan Stroud, Scoutmaster of Troop 444, Sweet Valley, was pre- sented with the prestigious Scoutmaster Award of Merit by the National Eagle Scout Associ- ation. The award is given to one Scoutmaster per Council per year. Nominees must be nominated by Patrol Leaders, approved by the Troop Chairperson and have a record of development of youth leadership through patrol meth- od, positive relations with the troop’s charter organization, an extensive outdoor program in- cluding strong summer camp at- tendance, a positive image of Scouting in the community, a troop operation that attracts and retains Boy Scouts, proper use of the Boy Scout advancement pro- gram resulting in a majority of Scouts attaining the First Class rank and a significant number of Scouts attaining the Eagle rank.
