Born in Wilkes-Barre, he grad- uated from school in Wilkes- Barre Township where he ex- celled in both basketball and football. He continued his educa- tion as a personnel manager in the Navy while stationed in San Diego, Calif. He was honorably discharged in 1958. He was own- er of JML.A.’s bar located in the Grand Hotel in downtown Wilkes Barre. He helped manage Jay’s bar at Harveys Lake with his parents. He was elected constable and at- tained president of the P.A. Con- stable’s Association. In 1962, he attained membership as an ap- prentice in the Operating Engi- neers Local 542 and was recog- nized as UNICO’s Man of the Year. Upon retirement, he managed Arnone Realty from Harveys Lake and Florida. Surviving are his wife, Ann Marie, Florida and Harveys Lake; daughter, Dorothy Joyce, Ashley; sons, Nicholas, Harveys Lake; John Jr., Hanover Twp.; Jo- seph, Cary, N.C.; 10 grandchil- dren; and five great-grandchil- dren. BAUR - Robert J., Sr., of North Maple Avenue, Kingston and Harveys Lake, died Sunday, July 13, 2008 in the Meadows Nurs- ing Center, Dallas. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a graduate of GAR High School, Class of 1943. In 1949, he re- ceived his diploma in Drafting and Estimating from ICS in Scranton. He was formerly em- ployed by Power Engineering Corp. for over 40 years as manag- er of the Sheet Metal Division and was a member of Sheet Met- al Workers Union Local 44. He was a member of St. Ignati- us Church, Kingston, where he was an usher for 25 years and a member of its Holy Name Socie- ty. Auditions let you try your hand at theater The Back Mountain Youth Theatre Company will conduct auditions at 6:30 p.m. on Tues- day, July 22, at Major Performing Arts Center, Carverton Roa Trucksville for a summer prod tion to be performed in late Au- gust at Penn State. A second audi- tion date will be added the fol- lowing week if necessary. This production, “Folk Tales from Around the World,” marks the 10th annual summer theatre tour event produced by the com- pany. Individual “tales” being used will be from the cultures of Swe- den, Japan, Germany, Mexico, Egypt, Turkey, Norway and Lib- eria. All roles are open and all types of roles are available, in- cluding character roles as ani- mals, humans, narrators, etc. Anyone wishing to pre-read the scripts prior to the auditions may arrive by 6 p.m. Actors and actresses should be 18 years of age or under and no experience is necessary to audi- tion. Actors will be asked to read from a script and participate in some character improvisation. Actors cast will receive scripts and be asked to memorize lines by mid-August.
