Cheryl Cavalari, who spoke on the Campus Ministries of Northeast Pennsylvania of which she is executive director. The Campus Ministries of Northeast Pennsylvania nurtures college students by building bridges between the area's higher education and faith communities. The women of the Lehman-Idetown UM Church sponsor this ministry by baking cookies for the students of the Penn State Wilkes-Barre campus during exam time. Rev. Beverly Butler, pastor, presented President Linda VanGorder with two certificates. The first was for being a Mission Today Unit, given from the district for completing the requirements to become a Mission Today unit of the United Methodist Women Conference in the Wilkes-Barre District. These requirements are for mission work that has been designated by the Wilkes-Barre District. The second certificate was for being a 5 Star Unit, given for supporting the United Methodist Women in five areas of Mission: Giving, Pledge to Mission, World Thank Offering, Special Mission Recognition, Gift in Memory, Gift to Mission. This group has received these certificates for three years. During the service, Harold and Jayne Haefele received Special Mission recognition pins, given to members of the women's group or a church member who has done work for the church.
