Quiznos Subs is now open The new Dallas Quiznos Subs located at the intersection of Routes 415 and 309 opened on Friday, Oct. 19. Quiznos is a national franchise staurants offering made-to- QO: subs in three sizes, salads, bread bowls and soups. Other Quiznos locations in the area in- clude one on Mundy Street in Wilkes-Barre Township and a store on South Main Street in Wilkes-Barre that opened in June. The Dallas Quiznos seats 40 people and is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 8 p.m. A Starbucks opened in Shaver- town during September and a Dunkin’ Donuts is scheduled to open next door to Quiznos in the near future. Dallas Twp. leaf collection will begin There will be a bagged leaves collection the week of November 19-23 in Dallas Township, weather permit- ting. Bags are to be placed by the road curb. Leaves are not to be raked into the gutter. There are no set dates or times for individual street pick-up. The leaf machine will only be used in areas with known drainage prob- lems. Dallas Borough enforces maintenance he Dallas Borough Codes forcement Office announc- es the seasonal enforcement of the Dallas Borough Proper- ty Maintenance Code. Prop- erty owners should be alerted that inspections will be scheduled for all property owners deemed in violation of the code and the borough will prosecute all offenders through the enforcement of the regulations. Recent routine property inspections in neighborhoods throughout the borough re- vealed numerous violations, including exterior property violations for property own- ers failing to maintain their premises in a clean, safe and sanitary condition. The borough will require property owners to remove all vehicles not properly reg- istered and inspected, inop- erable motor vehicles, failure to cut grass, appliances litter- ing yards, debris, and rubbish or other inappropriate mate- rials littering yard areas. Dallas Borough officials strongly urge all of our prop- erty owners to respect their neighborhoods recognizing the quality of life that bor- ough residents have long enjoyed. Koem 3-Day Walk for the Cure in Philadelhpia for women and men wanting to make a personal difference in the fight against breast cancer, seven were local and included Holly Banks-Fry, Maureen Gallagher, Melissa Hiedcavage, Glenda Pomrinke, Jon Pomrinke, Marlena Saxon, Tracy Banks and Dina Weitzman. The other team members - Bonnie and Becky Furchner, Kate Matherson, Michelle Harris and Jen Roberts - all walked in memory of Kelly Pomrinke, who inspired them in her battle against breast cancer. Pomrinke lost her battle against cancer in November 2006 at the age of 32, just over a month after she participa- ted in the 2006 3-Day walk. “I watched her cross the fin- ish line last year and, after she passed away, I just knew that I had to participate this year,” said Maureen Gallagher, of Dallas. Kelly’s Warriors, led by Pomrinke’s husband Jon, is so named because Pomrinke was a fighter and a warrior and the team wanted to carry on her strength. "Kelly’s Warriors" was in the top 10 fundraising teams out of about 350 total team which raised money to fund important breast cancer re- search, education, screening and treatments. Gallagher said the walk was both a physically and emotionally demanding ex- perience, but one in which she and the entire team were thrilled to participated. “Jon carried Kelly’s sneak- ers over his shoulder for most of the walk and we all took turns carrying them for strength,” Gallagher said. “We would like to thank all of our friends, family and the community for the support they gave to us, both mone- tarily and mentally.” Family members and friends of the Pomrinkes were present along the walk, sup- porting the team in every step. In addition to her hus- band, Pomrinke left behind a 3-year-old daughter, Kira, who was also at the walk, sup- porting the team as much as possible. "Kelly’s Warriors" covered 22.7 miles on Day One from the Willow Grove Mall through historic shopping ar- eas, such as Manyunk, neigh- borhoods and scenic nature trails to Philadelphia. Day Two saw them walking 21.1 miles of downtown Philadel- phia, passing such sites as University City and Olde City to Chinatown and Boathouse Row.
