She pointed out no one complains when school administrators want a raise and that teachers spend a lot of their own money on supplies. “This is just as much an impo- sition for them,” Frederick said of the teachers. “They have kids.” Boyd Snyder of Harveys Lake has three children en- rolled in the school district. He feels the district should hire new teachers to perma- nently replace the current ones. “I don’t think they should be striking,” Snyder said. “They make enough money the way it is.” A grandfather of Lake-Leh- man junior varsity field hock- ey player had strong feelings about the strike. “I think it’s up to our school board to go out and start the negotiations,” said the man, who wished to remain anony- mous. “They had all summer to do it. You can’t negotiate today and then come back three weeks later. You (school administrators) represent this community. Just do what you have to do with negotia- tions.” “I think it's disgraceful, but | think it's the school’s fault, not the teachers. ... This is just as much an imposition for (the teach- ers).
