Raiders advance to 3-0 The Kingston Township Raid- ers youth football program went 3-0 last weekend during week 5 of Wyoming Valley Youth Football League action with wins at the A, B and C level. A TEAM Raiders 26 Kingston Huskies 0 The Kingston Township Raiders A team improved its record to 3-2 with a 26-0 victory over the Kingston Husk- ies. The Raiders opened up the scoring with a Jim Roccograndi 35-yard TD run in the first quarter. A TD saving tackle by Brandon Rome in the second quar- ter caused a fumble recovery by KT on the four-yard line. Two plays later, Rob- ert Baker’s 75-yard TD blast finished off the second quarter, giving the KT Raiders a 12-0 lead at half time. After a scoreless third quarter, Jim Roccograndi opened the fourth with a 45-yard interception that gave the Raiders a first and goal from the 6-yard line. Baker took it over tackle for the score, Nathan Kish’s 2-point conver- sion was good, making it 18-0 in favor of Kingston Township. Junior Mounts trounce Duryea Both the A and B Dallas Junior Mounts youth football teams re- corded wins over the Duryea Wildcats last Sunday. A TEAM Jr. Mounts 36 . Duryea Wildcats 8 # The Dallas Junior Mounts A team trounced the Duryea Wild- cats, 36-8, last Sunday in junior football action. "Brett Wanek rushed for a 7- yard touchdown and Billy Dixon passed to Jason Simonovich for the 2-point conversion to put the Junior Mounts up, 8-0. A 50-yard pass from Brett Wa- nek to Jason Simonovich added another touchdown for the Dal- las team while Billy Dixon again passed to Jason Simonovich for the 2-point conversion. Donnie Behm blocked a punt and Brett Wanek rushed 10 yards for a touchdown, putting the Ju- nior Mounts way ahead of their opponents. The Mounts took the ball away from the Wildcats on an intercep- tion by Austin Smith and Billy Dixon threw a 10-yard pass to Shane Dunn for another Junior Mounts touchdown. Brett Wanek scored the 2-point conversion. Ben Kon also had a 2-yard touchdown run for the Junior Mounts. Also gaining yardage for the Dallas team were David Gallagh- er, Logan Bullock, Austin Smith and Zach Macosky. The Junior Mounts defense was led by Zach Macosky, Jordan Visneski, Brett Wanek, Jason Si- monovich, Austin Smith, Ben Kon and Shane Dunn. Ben Kon and Jason Simonov- ich also sacked the Wildcats quar- terback during the contest. B TEAM Junior Mounts 36 Duryea Wildcats 14 The Dallas B team remained undefeated with a 36-14 win over Duryea last Sunday. In the first quarter, Ryan Zapot- icky ran 74 yards for a touch- down. Professional UK coaches/players come to America annually to teach soccer skills and their soccer philosophies to children ages 6 thru 16. The award is given to the player who shows the highest level of com- mitment, dedication and character. The team placed first in its division with approximately 120 teams from the tri-state area participating in the event.
