Born in Orange, he was a 1946 graduate of Beaumont High School and was the owner/operator of the Midget Lake Farms for most of his life. After retiring, he was employed by Taurus Service Inc., of Mahoopany for 12 years. Van Etten, 85, of Dallas, died Thursday, August 30, 2007, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Endicott, N.Y., he attended the Binghamton Area High School, graduating in 1941. He continued his education at Duke Uni- versity. He left school early to enlist in the U.S. Army, serving during World War II with the Central Intelligence Corp. He served for several years and finished his degree in business at the former Harper Col- lege, now State University of New York. He began his sales career at the Crowley Milk Company. He later worked for National Cash Regis- ter until his retirement. He was a former member of the George M. Dallas Lodge 531, F&AM; Caldwell Consistory; and the Irem Temple Shriners AA- NOMS. He was a former deacon at the Dallas United Methodist Church and a current member of the Shavertown United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Wilkes-Barre Kiwanis Club and volunteered for Meal on Wheels for several years. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, June Foster Van Etten; sons, Ri- chard C., O'Fallon, Ill.; Mark W., Dallas, and John B., Morgantown; daughters, Patricia O'Connell, Camp Hill; and Debora Kurello, Leh- man; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia Hun- ziker, Delmar, N.Y.; nieces and nephews. Dr. Roberts was associated with Dr. I.J. Winoff in Norristown before entering the U.S. Army in 1956 where he was commissioned as a captain and served at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. He was discharged in 1958. He practiced dentistry in Forty Fort from 1958 until his retire- ment in 1987. He was an Eagle Scout, served as health and safety director of the Boy Scouts, Wyoming Valley Council; was a member of the Forty Fort Business and Professional Association; and SS. Clement & Peter Episcopal Church, Wilkes-Barre. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, the former Ellen Drake; Ann M. Baldo, 55, of Shavertown, died on Tuesday, August 21, 2007, after a challenging battle with cancer. A licensed practical nurse, she worked at Mercy Center in Dallas for more than 10 years and at John Heinz Center for Rehabilitation Medicine in Wilkes-Barre for six years. She was also a volunteer at the Back Mountain Free Medical Clinic. Surviving are her husband, David Olson, Shavertown; daughter, Christina Baldo, Nuangola; son, David Baldo, Kingston; one granddaughter; her mother, Carrie Dauk- sis, Bayville, N.J.; a brother, Robert Tapp; one niece and one nephew, all of Beachwood, N.J.; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. For the past 18 years, she ministered as activities director at the Heritage House, ilkes-Barre, and as Pastoral Minister at the Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, and the Parishes of St. Mary’s Church of the Immaculate Conception, Wilkes-Barre, St. Mary’s Church, Avoca, and at St. Nicholas Church in Wilkes-Barre. In 1999 she moved to Mercy Center, Dallas, where she continued her Pastoral and Prayer Ministry. Surviving are several cousins; many friends; and her Sisters of Mercy of the Mid-Atlantic Community.
