Griffith, pastor of Trinity Presby- terian Church, Irem Road, Dallas has announced that Sunday school classes will resume at 9:30 a.m. on Sep- tember 16 and the worship service will follow at 10:50 a.m. There are classes avail- able for all ages. On the second Sunday of each month, a welcome re- ception follows the worship service and the public is invited to attend. TUMC plans meatloaf dinner The Trucksville United Methodist Church will hold a meatloaf dinner in the Educational Facility on Church Road on Friday, Sept. 14. Take-outs will be available from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and dining room ser- vice in the hall will be available from 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children and can be ordered by calling the church office at 696- 3897 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Proceeds from the dinner will benefit the building fund. Roast beef dinner at St. Paul's Church A family-style roast beef dinner will be held on Sat- urday, Sept. 15, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Route 118, Dallas. Take outs will be available from 3:30 p.m. with serving from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Tickets, priced at $8 for adults and $3 for children, can be purchased at the door or by calling 675-3859. Craft and Collectible sale Crafters are being sought for a craft and collectible show at the River of Life Fellowship Ministries Church, 22 Outlet Rd., Lehman (old Lehman Ju- nior High School) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept 29. CUMC plans flea market The Centermoreland Unit- ed Methodist Church youth group, Soldiers For Christ, will have a Flea Market and Bake Sale on the church grounds, from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 29. Proceeds will benefit youth ministries of the youth. Anyone wishing to have a spot may do so by calling Doug and Nancy Jones at 333-4608 to reserve a spot for $5. CIVIC BRIEFS See Uranus from PSU/WB The large blue-green planet known as Uranus will be at its closest approach to Earth on September 10 and the best place to see this planetary occurrence will be at the Fried- man Observatory at Penn State Wilkes-Barre. Known as the seventh planet from the sun, this impressive planet shines non-stop within our solar system like a blue gem. Originating from Greek mythol- ogy, the planet is named after the god of the heavens Uranus. The Friedman Observatory is open to the public and the Penn State community beginning at 9 p.m. during Daylight Savings Time (now through Nov. 3) and 8 p.m. during Standard Time (beginning Nov. 4) on clear Monday nights. Pre-regis- tration is necessary. Erwine’s will bill Medicare, First Priority Health, GHP Gold, and GHP commercial insurance for your flu vaccine. If insurance does not cover the cost or if individ- uals do not have insurance, the cost of the flu shot is $35. Indi- viduals age 60 and older who are interested in this program are encouraged to contact the senior center closest to them t: pre-register. Meadows seeks volunteers The volunteer department at the Meadows Nursing Center in Dallas is recruiting volun- teers to help escort residents in wheelchairs to'in-house phys-~:~ ical therapy and the beauty/ barber shop on a substitute basis. Placements are mornings from 9:30 a.m. to shortly after noon. Wheelchair training is provided. Escort positions are also available in the Activities Department which provides social events, religious ser- vices, and therapeutic pro- grams for residents daily.
