MADEIRA Continued from Page 1 got to hear an artist from Puerto Rico speak. Madeira’s work is on display on Capitol Hill in the tunnel be- tween the Cannon Building and the U.S. Capitol. Note cards of the art are being produced and will be used to raise money for the Forty Fort Meeting House. “I was excited that she chose to do it because I'm actively in- . volved in the plans for the 200th anniversary of the meeting house,” said Hand. “The meet- ing house has a lot of memory for me because my art teacher took me there when I was about 14. The meeting house is really one of my major loves. I was just flabbergasted when she (Laura) got a call from WVIA saying she was one of the winners.” Though Madeira has ex- plored many kinds of art, pen and ink is her favorite. “I like pen and ink because I like doing the detail,” she said. “Even when I do watercolor, I'm always trying to get ahead of Glen Lost 50Ibs. & 50.5 inches in 17 weeks. In her free time, Madeira enjoys read- ing, playing the piano, bike rid- ing with cousins and spending time with family. She is also making her own collection of jewelry she hopes to eventually sell at her grandmother’s stu- dio. at Sue teacher’s assistant Hand’s Imagery.
