Jazz in July’s theme, “From the Windy City to the Big Apple: The Eddie Condon Connection,” features the music of the re- nowned jazz banjoist, guitarist and ban- dleader who was a leading figure in the Chicago school of early jazz. Condon’s professional musical career spanned the 1920s to 1950s and included performanc- es with some of that era’s jazz music gi- ants, like Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller, Wild Bill Davison and Pee Wee Russell. Beginning in the 1930s, he was a regular at the Manhattan jazz club, Nick’s, where his sophisticated variation on Dixieland music became known as “Nicksieland.” Tickets for Jazz in July can be pur- chased the College Misericordia Theatre Box Office at (570) 674-6719.
