ROBERTS Graduate of Dallas Borough High School Robert Graydon Roberts, of Bel Air, Maryland, formerly of Harveys Lake, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at Bel Air Health and Rehabilita- tion Center, Bel Air, Maryland. He was 79. Mr. Roberts was born Au- gust 27,1927, in Harveys Lake. He was a son of the late Hervey D. and Florence Roberts (nee Kocher). He graduated from Dallas Borough High School. He was a resident of Bel Air for 44 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He retired in 1984 after 25 years of service with Lever Brothers in their production department. He enjoyed gardening, read- ing and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Rose Ann Roberts (nee Sherin- sky), of Bel Air, with whom he celebrated 54 years of marriage on October 4, 2006; daughters Donna Van Matre, of Abing- don, M.D.; and Sheri R. Adams and her husband, James, of Bel Air, Md.; grandchildren Sa- muel and Benjamin Adams, of Bel Air, Md.; Kelly Little, of Ed- gewood, Md.; Cheryl Holt, of Florida; and Jason Ford, of Bal- timore; great-grandchildren Ruby and Billie Little, of Edge- wood, Md.; Sophia and Cam- den Holt, of Florida; brothers Bruce and Lowell Roberts, of Pennsylvania; and Harold Ro- berts, of Wisconsin. BARBARA KULICK Wonderful homemaker, avid sportswoman Barbara Kulick, 73, of Tunk- hannock, fell asleep in the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007 at Tyler Memorial Hospital, Tunkhannock. Her husband of 53 years is Donald Kulick of Tunkhannock. She was born in . Sept. 9, 1933 in Wilkes-Barre Township. She was the daugh- ter of the late George and Stella Kroll. She was a graduate of Marymount High School, Wilkes-Barre. She loved her family and was a wonderful homemaker throughout her life. She was an avid sportswoman, enjoying hunting and fishing. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Stanley Kroll. CHACKO Member of Gate of Heaven Church, volunteer for Easter Paralyzed Veterans events Rita A. Chacko, 71, of Eliza- beth Street, Dallas, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Town- ship. Born in Burlington, Vt., she was the daughter of the late Harold and Ann (Theriault) Roberts. She attended the Burlington public schools. Before retiring she was employed by Offset Pa- perback Manufacturers, Dal- las. She was a member of Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas, and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was preceded in death by brothers, Clifford and Ed- ward Roberts. Rita was very active in volun- teer work for the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Township, cook- ing for the Eastern Paralyzed Veterans dinners, and was in charge of its summer picnic. She was a very giving wom- an who would give to friends and strangers alike. Surviving are husband of 52 years, Andrew J.; son, Andrew J. Cragle, 58, of Hollywood Drive, Hunlock Creek, passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2007 at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre. He was born April 27, 1948, in Nanticoke, a son of the late Claude and Emily Cragle. He worked as a security guard for United Pants. He was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Wolfe and Harriet Fraley; and brother, Le- wis Cragle. Surviving are his wife, the former Gail Pierson; son, Raymond Cragle, Hun- lock Creek; daughters, Debbie Edwards and her husband Nel- son, Sweet Valley; Ray Anne Cragle, Hunlock Creek; grand- children, Ryan and Dakota Cra- gle, Hunlock Creek; brother, John Olszewski, Hunlock Creek. LEILA WEST Longtime supporter of Back Mountain Memorial Library Auction Leila Mench West, 98, of Dallas and formerly of Ber- wick, passed away Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007 at the Meadows Nursing Center in Dallas. Born in Berwick on August 31, 1908, she was the daughter of the late Charles F. Mench and Lil- lian R. Creasy Mench Shulde. Leila was a 1927 graduate of Berwick High School. She married Ambrose William West on July 11, 1940 and spent 50 years together, until his death in 1990. Mrs. West was an office man- ager and accountant for the for- mer Ertley MotorWorld. She retired from that position in 1974. She was a longtime member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church of Dallas. She enjoyed restoring antiques, sewing and making her own clothing, do- ing crafts, caring for her cats and other neighborhood ani- mals and pets, supporting the Back Mountain Memorial Li- brary Auction and spending her winters in Fort Myers, Fla. Leila is survived by her step- sister, Elizabeth Hamrick of Wilkes-Barre, and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her par- ents and her husband. ROBERT E. GRAY SR. Loving husband, father and grandfather Robert E. Gray Sr, 63, of Hunlock Creek, passed away Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007 at Geis- inger South Wilkes-Barre. Mr. Gray was born in Wilkes- Barre on Feb. 28,1943, and was the son of the late Lester and Dorothy Gray Sites. Robert was a loving and good hus- band, father and grandfather. He was predeceased by grandchildren, Jacob and Alex- andra Gray and brothers, Bud- dy and Joe Gray. JUDITH ANN PANAGAKOS Active member of Gate of Heaven Church Judith Ann Panagakos, 42, of Overbrook Estates, Dallas, passed away home Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007, after a coura- geous battle with breast can- cer. She was born in Hughes- town on Jan. 3, 1965, a daugh- ter of Newark and Judith (Kutchkus) Legg. She was a graduate of Pittston Area High School, Class of 1982. She at- tended Penn State and Lu- zerne County Community Col- lege. She was employed by var- ious optometrists and was last employed as a dental assistant for her brother, Dr. Joseph Legg. She was a member of Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas; an as- sistant instructor of CCD class- es and a former member of the Bell Choir. She served as an ad- viser for the Back Mountain Youth Council and was a fre@a™ quent volunteer at Wycalli@ Elementary School, Dallas Township, and for several years ran its Holiday House. Surviving, in addition to her parents and husband, Gus, are son, Shane W., and daughter, Kallysta M., both at home; grandmother, Agnes Kutch- kus, Hughestown,; brother, Dr. Joseph Legg, and his wife, Kristen, Mountain Top; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Born Feb. 18, 1912 in Trucks- ville, he was the son of the late College, he was employed for many years by Ide Air, as a ware- house manager. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Frances An- and Mildred Moore. Surviving are his son, Edward D. Husted, with whom he resid- ed; grandsons, Casey Husted, Tim Husted, Todd Vonderheid and Colby Vonderheid. A memorial service will be held in March on a date and time to be announced.
