Pioneer Avenue in Shavertown. The event will feature the Mad- rigal Singers of Canandaigua Academy, Canandaigua, N.Y. . The group of 25 madrigal singers is conducted by Amy Story. The dinner will consist of a multi-course meal. Reserva- tions may be made by calling the church at 675-3616 and a limited number of tickets are available. The cost $35 per person and payment must ac- company the reservation. No tickets will be sold at the door. The dinner/entertainment will last for 2% hours. Campus ministry ns flea market The campus ministry at Col- lege Misericordia will hold a flea market and rummage sale from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 3 in the Banks Student Center. Vender space is avail- able and may be reserved by ing 639-1769 or e-mailing oja@netzero.net. ‘Souper Bowl’ at Center Moreland UMC The Center Moreland United Methodist Church is holding its annual “Souper Bowl of Caring” with activities scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 3 and Sunday, Feb. 4. Youth from the church will be collecting money, canned goods and nonperishable items from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 3 at Thomas’ Foodtown Market in Tunk- hannock. The event will benefit the Wyoming County Food Bank and the Commission on Economic Opportunity. The Souper Bowl of Caring will take place Sunday, Feb. 4. Members of the youth group will take a collection to benefit St. Vincent DePaul Kitchen during the 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. worship services. A soup lunch will follow the 11 a.m. service. Jerry and Clara Mattocks will give a presentation about the Oriental Missionary Society Prayer Initiative in Ecuador. Items will also be collected for the Back Mountain Food Pantry. Items especially needed are pancake mix, pancake syrup, flour, cake mixes, cereals, canned pork & beans, canned vegetables, fruit, peanut butter, jelly, pasta and sauces. Alderson UMC plans chili dinner The Alderson United Metho- dist Church will hold a chili dinner from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3 at the church, located at Pole 108, Lakeside Drive in Harveys Lake. The dinners include chili, salad, rolls, crack- ers, cake and beverages. Take- outs will be available from 4-5 p.m. Dinners are $6 for adults and $3 for children under age 12. Men's breakfast held each Tuesday The Shavertown United Methodist Church recently began holding a weekly ecumen- ical men’s breakfast. The group meets at 8 a.m. each Tuesday at Pickett’s Charge restaurant on Route 415 in Dallas. The Dutch treat breakfast is followed by fellowship and a short devotion period. The breakfast, fellow- ship and devotion period last no longer than one hour. Men from all Back Mountain churches are encouraged to attend. For more information, call Bob Deeble at 696-2148. River of Life begins nightly meetings Pastors Stephen and Mary Ann Kotch of River Of Life @ Kingdom Power Ministries in Shavertown will hold special meetings at 7:30 p.m. each Tuesday through Sunday at the church, located at 219 North Memorial Highway. The Sunday meetings will be held at 6 p.m. The meetings will vary each evening to include teaching on spiritual gifts, prophecy, heal- ing, dreams and visions inter- pretation, spiritual counsel and worship. The public is invited. Awana Club meets at Grace Community The Awana Club of Grace Community Church meets from 6-7:45 p.m. each Wednesday at the church, located across from Chapel Lawn Cemetery on Memorial Highway. The club holds its meetings through April. The Bible-based club is open to boys and girls in kindergarten through sixth grade. Awana is one of the largest nondenom- inational children and youth ministries in the world. Awana clubs are active in more than 110 countries, reaching more than one million young people each week. LAWYER SPEAKS TO STUDENTS AT DMS Robert Schaub of the law firm of Rosen, Jenkins and Greenwald recently spoke to the stu- dents in several eighth grade civics classes at Dallas Middle School. The attorney discussed several aspects of the legal profession to coordinate real life with the civics curriculum. He shared his experiences of law school, trials and the day-to-day business of being a lawyer. MULNIX Taught Sunday School at Bowman's Creek Free Methodist Eleanor E. Mulnix, of Bow- man’s Creek, passed away Fri- day, Jan. 19, 2007 at VNA Hos- pice in Wilkes-Barre. She was preceded in death by her hus- band of 51 years, Francis R. Mul- nix. Born on Nov. 27,1916, she was a daughter of the late Dean and Clara Brown Battin. She was a member of the Bow- man’s Creek Free Methodist Church, where she had taught Sunday school for many years. Eleanor was a loving mother grandmother and friend who will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her brother, Lamar Battin. Surviving are a daughter, Ar- lene Traver, of Bowman's Creek; three grandsons and wives, Steve and Karen Traver, Scott and Jean Traver, and Brian and Susan Traver, all of Evans Falls; and three great-grandchildren, Scott Traver, Cody Traver and Sabrina Traver.
