Mr. Doran was born in Bloomsburg and was a son of the late John and Barbara (Gensemer) Do- ran. He attended Bloomsburg schools and earned his parale- gal degree in 1990 and his elec- trician’s license in 2006. He currently was self-employed and was beginning a career with Haden Electric of Hazle- ton. Chris was a member of the Sweet Valley Church of Christ and the International Brother- hood of Electricians. His hob- bies included carpentry and auto mechanics. He also helped his son, John, achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. ROGER D. BOYLE Avid race car fan Roger D. Boyle, 61, of Dallas, died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, Sept. 1, 2006. Mr. Boyle was born in Wilkes- Barre, Aug. 19, 1945, and was a son of the late Thomas and An- na (Boback) Boyle. He gradu- ated from Dallas High School, Class of 1963, and was employ- ed as a truck driver and heavy- equipment operator for most of his life. Roger retired from the Penn- sylvania Department of Trans- portation in January of this year. He was an avid race car fan and enjoyed spending time with his family and his two dogs. He was a lifelong mem- ber of the Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas. He was preceded in death by his brother, William, and a ne- phew Eric Boyle. Roger is survived by his best friend and companion, Cindy Hoyt; stepson Josh Hislop and his wife, Elizabeth, Dallas; grandchildren Kelsey and Jar- rod Hislop; brothers Joseph and his wife, Anne, Harveys Lake; Bruce and his wife, Be- verly, Dallas; numerous nieces and nephews. JEAN MCCULLOCH MAJOR Nurse, Navy veteran, Lehman H.S. graduate Jean McCulloch Major died on Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, at her home in Lehman Township. She had been in failing health for the last several years. McCulloch was born in Dallas on July 30, 20 to the late Harrison M. Ho- 11 and Florence (Siegel) Ho- well. She graduated from Leh- man High School and received her B.S. in nursing from College Misericordia. During the latter part of World War II, she enlist- ed in the Navy and was sta- tioned in Philadelphia, working with injured servicemen needi- ng therapy. Following her dis- charge from the Navy, 'she worked -at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and was also employed for many years as a school nurse with the Wilkes- Barre Area School District. In 1945, she married her first hus- d, Charles McCulloch, who d on Aug. 28, 1983. In 1987, she married Bryce Major of Leh- man. Mr. Major died Sept. 12, 2005. Mrs. Major is survived by her stepson, Thomas B. Major of Lehman; stepdaughter Beverly Schwartz of Brevard, S.C.; four grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren; brother Harry Howell of Dallas; sisters E. Fern Rogers of Dallas; and Shirley Rood of Silver City, N.C.; sister- in-law Dorothy Baker of Leh- man; brother-in-law William Major of Malverne; many nieces and nephews. RAYMOND BERNICK Longtime member of Jackson Twp. Fire Department Raymond Bernick, 74, of Sha- vertown, passed into eternal rest Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006. Born in Plymouth, he was a son of the late Andrew and Mary (Posluszny) Bernick. He was a member of Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas. Before retiring, he was employed for 47 years by Atwater Throwing Co., Plymouth. He was a member and treasurer of the Jackson Township Fire Department for more than 30 years. CRISPELL Laketon H.S. graduate; avid sports fan Bruce Willard Crispell, 90, a lifelong resident of Harveys Lake, passed away at his home on Monday, August 28, 2006. He was born on May 4, 1916 at Alderson, and was a son of the late Bruce and Gertrude Hoov- er Crispell. He was a graduate of Laketon High School, Class of 1934. Mr. Crispell served as a ser- geant in the U.S. Army during WWII and received a Good Conduct Medal and numerous other medals. He was employ- ed at Hayfield Farm, Lehman, and retired from Hill the Flo- rist, Shavertown. Mr. Crispell was an avid "sports fan and was a member of the pit crew of Elston & Gould and Leslie Hoover at Bone Sta- dium, Pittston, during the 1950s. He was a great support- er of his great-grandchildren’s activities. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His wife of 63 years, the for- mer Leah Eustice, died in March, 2005. PEIFFER Loved simple things in life Martha K. Peiffer, 89, of Sweet Valley, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006, at home. Mrs. Peiffer was born in Lehman Township, Oct. 16, 1916 and was a daughter of the late Hen- ry and Martha (Anstett) Pah- ler. She graduated from Leh- man High School, Class of 1934. She was a member of the Community Bible Church of Sweet Valley. Martha loved the simple things in life such as gardening and taking long walks in the woods with her dog. Her husband, Herbert Peiff- er, died in 1981. She also was preceded in death by a son Ralph; a brother George; and sisters Gertrude McKeel and Julia Boston. She is survived by a son, Jesse H. Peiffer, and a daugh- ter, Janice Peiffer, both of Sweet Valley.
