* Sunday, September 3, 2006 CIVIC THE POST PAGE 5 ® RED HOT DIVAS SEND CARE PACKAGES BETA SIGMA CHAPTER ELECTS OFFICERS The Red Hot Divas, a Shaver- town Chapter of the Red Hat Socie- ty, recently baked cookies and or- ganized care packages for military personnel on the USS Iwo Jima, which has been deployed since June. In the past year, the Red Hot Divas have sent baked goods and multiple care packages to mem- bers of the military stationed in Irag and other parts of the world. VOLUNTEERS DONATE MORE THAN 10,000 HOURS AT MEADOWS The Beta Sigma Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International recently elected its officers. The chapter members are active and retired teachers who reside in the Back Mountain. The local chapter has donated time and items to the organizations such as the Back Mountain Food Pantry, the McAuley House, Victims Resource Center, Meals on Wheels, Head Start and several homeless shelters. DALLAS UMC HOLDING HYMN SING The Meadows Nursing Center in Dallas recently held Volunteer Appreciation Week. The ent celebrated the more than 100 community-minded people who have volunteered at the center. The volunteers combined to work 10,529 hours during the past year. Certificates of appreciation and gifts were presented to each volunteer. Special awards were given to volun- teers who have given five, 10 and 20 years of service.
