LL matmen post wins at tourney Roger Jayne captured the champion- ship in the 210-pound division as the Lake-Lehman junior high wrestling team posted an impressive second-place finish in the team standings at the Dis- trict 2 Junior High Wrestling Tourna- ment at Lake-Lehman High School. The Black Knights, under the direc- tion of head coach Alex Wilson, also had three wrestlers finish second in their re- spective weight classes. In addition to Jayne's title, Devon Emerson (75 pounds), Shane Stark (122) and Dave Heller (185) placed second for Lake-Leh- ary Verazin scored 20 points and Bishop Photo dominated the offensive and defensive boards to capture the championship in Dallas Youth Basketball’s seventh and eighth grade boys division with a 43-29 win against Offset Paperback. Spencer Youngman added three points and Tim Reinert chipped in two for the winners. Brian Wise played well defen- sively. Griffin Adams led Offset with eight points and Andrew Ondish added six. Kevin Hine played well defensively. Off- set reached the final with a 42-32 win against Digital Print Services. D.J. Ber- ley scored a game-high 17 points, fol-- lowed by Joey Murray, Erik Cannon, and Mike Diaco with six points each. Chris Dailey scored 16 points for Dig- ital, while Devin Williams and Pat Tou- hey added two points each. In the other semifinal, Bishop Photo defeated Dr. Jack Ellis, 36-24, behind Hunter Englehart’s 12 points. Mitch Cohen added four points, while Adam Viercinski and Jim Amarando led a de- fensive effort that held their opponents scoreless in the fourth quarter. Ryan McAndrew led Dr. Ellis with 14 points. Chris Ellis and Taylor Dunn chipped in four points each. ¢ Dallas Youth Basketball is holding its annual banquet at 6 p.m. Sunday, April 3. The cost is $20 for adults, $12 for children 10 and under, and $5 for players. Everyone attending the ban- quet must purchase a ticket. All tickets must be purchased by March 27. man. Bishop Photo trailed by as many as nine points in the third quarter. Dana Kra- wetz scored 11 points for the winners, while Mary Kate Osick and Blair Cos- tantino added six and four points, re- spectively. Sarah Gallis scored 12 points to lead Medico. Dominique DeAngelo added nine points, while Vic- toria Mihal and Briana Zablotney chipped in two points each. 5TH/6TH GRADE GIRLS The Fieldhouse Sporting Goods got past Gordon- Smith Insurance, 25-16 to advance to the championship game. Leading the way for the Fieldhouse was Sabrina Zurek (11 points), Ashley Dun- bar (eight), Brianna Morgan (four) and Alyssa Belskis (two). Lauren Scafidi scored six points to lead Gordon- Smith. Alyssa Menzel and Leah Bene- detti added four points each, while Ta- lia Simon chipped in two points. 3RD/4TH GRADE BOYS Brian Banas scored 12 points to lead Drs. Banas, Byron and Kim to a 24-18 win against Quad Three Group. Mi- chael Pierce added six points and Ryan Georgetti chipped in four for the win- ners. Chris Behm led Quad with 10 points, followed by Mark Michno with four. e Mariano Medico and Zach Good- win scored eight points each as Medico Industries defeated Darling Graphic Design, 22-14. Josh Weaver added four points for Medico. Dominic DeLuca led Darling with six points, followed by Joe Mozden with three and Jory Brezinski with two. e Kyle Razawich scored 23 points and Blake Williams added 10 as The Fieldhouse topped Dallas Rotary, 35- 20. Nick Muldoon added a basket for the Fieldhouse. Nigel Stearns led Ro- tary with 12 points and Chris Chorey finished with two points. ¢ Chad DeBona and Chase Makow- ski combined for 22 points and Omar Nimjeh chipped in four as McCarthy Tire cruised to the semifinals with a 38-8 win against MetLife Securities. Drew Harding, Rosario Bevevino and J.T. Carey led Metlife with two points each. In the semifinals, McCarthy Tire plays Drs. Banas, Byron and Kim, while The Fieldhouse plays Medico Industri- es. The two winners will play for the championship at a time, date and site to be determined. LAKE-LEHMAN PTO/PTA Kevin Bohan scored 20 points as Leh- man-Jackson Gold edged Lehman-Jack- son Gray, 41-37, to win the Lehman- Jackson Elementary championship. Cody Poepperling added 13 points for the winners, while Brandon Kelly fin- ished with four. Brian Sisk and Major Moore chipped in two points each. Lehman-Jackson Gray was led by Je- rod James with 11 points. Mike Marr added eight and Dean Gregory chipped in six. Bryar Raspen and Justin Salvati scored four points each, while Tommy Boyle and Quentin Crane finished with two points apiece. Lehman-Jackson Gold advances to the semifinals where they will face off against Ross Elementary at a time, date and site to be determined. RAGUKAS ACCEPTS OFFER FROM VIRGINIA KASCHENBACH SIGNS WITH RHODE ISLAND Lake-Lehman senior Traci Ragukas recently signed a letter of intent to accept an athletic scholarship to play field hockey at the University of Virginia. Ragukas was a four-year starter and three-time all-state selection for head coach Jean Lipski. The daughter of John and Judy Ragukas was also a two-time All-America selection and a four-year letter winner. Ragukas origi- nally planned to attend Michigan State before opting to play for the Cavaliers.
