The congregation of Trinity Presbyterian Church recently called Griffith as its new pastor and head of staff. He certainly isn’t a stranger to the Back Mountain, having graduated from Dallas High School. “The road to ministry has now led me back to the place of my roots,” he said. Griffith begins his ministry with his new congregation dur- ing an Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m. March 1 at the church on Irem Road in Dallas. Griffith has a love for minis- try and music. While a student in high school and college, he was bassist and a vocalist for the very popular 60s, and 70s rock group, The Starfires. Three years ago, Griffith had a vision of getting the Starfires back to- gether again. Now known as the Original Starfires, the group consists of all the original musi- cians including lead vocalist Ed- die Day, lead vocalist. After working as the co-own- er and secretary-treasurer of R.J. Griffith Co., Inc. in Mon- trose, Griffith sensed a call to 4 The Rev. Roger Griffith ministry and did further under- graduate study in biblical and pastoral studies at Johnson Col- lege. He went on to graduate studies at Moravian Theologi- cal Seminary, where he re- ceived a master of divinity de- gree. For the past 16 years, Griffith has served two Presbyterian churches in Susquehanna and Bradford counties. He is mar- ried to Linda Guilford Griffith, who is also a Dallas graduate.
