WRESTLE Continued from Page 7 says the program doesn’t stress win-loss records. “It takes a lot of sacrifice to be successful in this sport,” said the assistant coach, whose 5-year- old son Michael is a member of the junior varsity team. “You're asking a lot of 8-, 9- and 10-year- Qlds. As far as winning and los- ing, we downplay that at this lev- el. As an organization, and as parents, we focus on how well a wrestler performs — no matter if he wins or loses.” In a sport where gaining — and especially losing — weight can become an issue as the athlete gets older, that’s not a problem at the BMWC. “Whatever they weigh is what they wrestle,” said Martinez, whose sons Connor, 9, and Ai- dan, 7, are members of the team. “We don’t let our wrestlers cut weight at all.” Despite their young ages, brothers Johnny and Justin Hutchins are veterans of the sport. Six-year-old Justin has been wrestling for three years, while 10-year-old Johnny is com- peting in his fifth season with the BMWC. “I like learning new moves,” said Johnny. “It’s a hard sport and you have to be in good shape.” Added Justin: “You get so many so many trophies each year. But it’s hard. You get mixed up with all of the moves.” \ hee? erin 4 cow MOP & GO Sie CLEANING SERVICE RESIDENTIAL CLEANING TOO BIG OR SMALL Fully Insured & Bonded Call Pat At 332-7214 NO JOB “Give the Perfect Gift!” Gift Certificates & Spa Packages Available!
