ANNUAL EVENT TO BENEFIT BREAST | CANCER FOUNDATION The fourth annual Remembering Jane & Friends fund-raiser will be held from 6 p.m. till midnight Aug. 20 at the Irem Temple Country Club Pavilion in Dallas. The event honors the late Jane Hanni- gan Yocum and her fight against cancer. Proceeds benefit the Northeast Pennsyl- vania Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and other lo- cal charities including Camp Brave- hearts and the Libby Schomas Fund. The event will feature five of Northeast Pennsylvania's finest bands, including Big Daddy Dex & the Groove, Mother Na- ture’s Sons, Cat & the Fiddle, Bus 5, and Diamond Cutter. A dinner buffet will be served from 7-9 p.m. There is no charge for beer and soda, while wine and mixed drinks may be purchased. The evening will also include 50/50 and gift basket drawings. ADULT LEARNER College Misericordia will host an Adult Learner Open House from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 10 in the Banks Student Life Center. The event is open to adult learners interested in obtaining more information about College Misericordia’s undergraduate and graduate , programs. The event is also open to persons who have general questions about entering or returning to college or transfer- ring from another college. Guests can drop in at their con- venience and speak with repre- sentatives from agmissions, adult education, financial aid and College Misericordia’s faculty. Common topics include equitable @® transfer, credit for life experiences, financial aid eligi- bility, evening and weekend class ate teacher education bridge program for special education teachers. There is also a new online program for a master’s degree in elementary educa- tion. In recent national surveys of both traditional age and adult students, College Misericordia ranked significantly ahead of similar institutions in several key areas of student satis- faction. The program consists of a volunteer training course de- signed to provide those with an interest in horticulture the information and skills neces- sary to share their knowledge campus in Lehman Township. There is a fee of $60 per person or $90 per couple to cover the cost of the training manual, soil test kit, Penn State publications, and other materials.
