PAGE 8 THE POST NEWS Sunday, August 7, 2005 DALLAS ROTARY CLUB AWARDS BOOK The Rotary Club of Dallas recently SCHOLARSHIPS i awarded book scholarships to five college-bound students from the Dallas, Lake-Lehman and Northwest Area school districts. The scholarships were given during a dinner held in their honor. The students were presented with S500 checks to help offset the expenses of their first year in college. The organization has been awarding the book scholar- ships since 1962. DALLAS FAMILY PRACTICE MARKS 40TH YEAR Dallas Family Practice recently celebrated its 40th anniversary with a picnic for all staff mem- bers and their families at Moon Lake Park. More than 50 people attended the event, which fea- tured food, games, contests and prizes. Dallas Family Practice is located at 16 Church Street in Dallas. Founded by Dr. Irvin Jacobs, the practice has served the Back Mountain community for more than four decades. Back Mountain Baseball, Inc. hosted its annual Challenger Baseball game at the .W. Kubis Memorial Field on Church Street in Dallas last weekend. The Challenger Division of Lit- tle League offers mentally and physically disabled boys and girls an opportunity to play baseball. The following performers and events will perform at the Fairgrounds Amphitheater. An Old Time Fiddle Contest will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 7, with $500 in prize money being awarded to the top fiddlers. The first prize is $250, second prize is $150 and third prize is $100. He says the players made a lot of progress during the past 12 months. “Coming into the (Kubis Tournament), I thought we would do well and make it to the finals,” he said. “They kids have’ improved their skills. I've seen a lot of improvement.
