She was born in Tunkhannock on February 28, 1927, daughter of the late Roy and Sara (Burgess) Schrader. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a licensed practical nurse and was a mem- ber of the Lovelton Bible Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Burgess, and brothers, Harold and Leland Schrader. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Rubert Merritt of Barstow, CA; Linda and John Schriner of Columbia Falls, Montana; sis- ter-in-law, Lillian Schrader of Effort; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two nieces; and five nephews. Mr. Milbrodt was born in Lake Twp., December 15, 1929, and was a son of the late Christ and Rose Ann Fox Milbrodt. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Ryan Brothers Construction and was a coal miner for various area mines. He was preceded in death by brothers, Edward, Leo, and William; and sisters, Mary Keithline, Catherine Hoover; and Ruth Milbrodt. : He is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Jennie London; sons, James D. She was born in Meshoppen on December 12, 1952, a daughter of the late Arthur and Gladys Hunsinger Kasson. She was a graduate of Tunkhannock High School, Class of 1970, a member and past worthy matron of the Meshoppen Eastern Star, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Irem Temple Shrine and the Lovelton Bible Church. Besteder, 87, of Dallas, formerly of Centermoreland, passed away May 7, 2005, in Hospice Care of the VNA, Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Kingston, he was a son of the late Walter and Ruby (Schoonover) Besteder. He was a graduate of Dallas Borough High School. Before retiring, he was a construction supervisor for J. Mark Robinson, Tunkhannock, and later served as Regional Director for the Department of Agriculture of Wyoming County. Karl was a member of the Centermoreland United Methodist Church, the Moose Lodge, Tunkhannock, Laborer’s Union, Plains Township. In community affairs he was a founding mem- ber of the Northmoreland Ambulance Association, served as chairman of the Democratic Party of Wyoming County, and was a blood donor giving over 3 gallons of blood. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a loyal Yankee fan. He was pre- ceded in death by brothers Floyd, Corey, and Kenneth. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, the former Helen Edwards; son, Karl C., Tunkhannock; daughter, Susan Riggs, Virginia Beach, Va.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grand- children. FRANCES ANDERSON Valedictorian of her 1923 high school class Frances H. Anderson of Tunkhannock died May 8, 2005, at the Beverly Health Care in Tunkhannock. She was born in Idetown, Pa., on July 29, 1909, a daughter of the late George W. ‘and Anna Smith Rogers. She was a graduate of Beaumont High School class of 1923 and was the class Valedictorian. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a seamstress for the Rowker dress company in Tunkhannock. She attended the Vernon Church, Vernon. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Herbert Rogers, and her second hus- band, Carl Anderson; daughter Barbara Crider; granddaugh- ters Cindy Cole and Linda Wardenberg; grandson Erik Rogers; great-grandchildren Timothy and Gary Cole and Jamie Dixon; brothers Edward, Robert and Carlton Rogers; sis- ters Edith Brown, Dorothy Sickler, Hilda Vivian and Vivian Southworth. The event is intended to fos- ter business-to-business rela- tionships, and to give the gen- eral public an opportunity to learn about local products and services. Michael Bealla, chair- man of the board of the Back Mountain Food Pantry, recently reviewed the 2004 activities of the food pantry at a board meet- ing held at Trucksville United Methodist Church which hous- es the pantry. During the year, the pantry collected and distributed more than 22. tons of food to 478 clients, up from 315 clients served the previous year. In 2000 the Back Mountain Ministerium launched a cam- paign to raise $62,000 to relo- cate the food pantry into the Administration and Education Building of the church. The goal has been reached thanks to donations from many individu- als, groups and businesses. Forty-eight volunteers logged 3,320 hours during 2004 to serve the clients of the pantry.
