Tunkhannock 113, Prep 60 Jan. 25 — Scranton Prep took first in eight of 12 events, but Tunkhannock won the meet on overall depth in a Northern Division meet. Steve Vanduzer and Miguel Echevarria were double winners for the Tigers, and Ken Alguire took first in diving. Tunkhannock 125, Bishop O'Reilly 39 Jan. 20 —Tunkhannock’s Steve Vanduzer swam the final four events of the meet and picked up three wins. Swimmers usually stagger events, but Vanduzer swam in the 200 free relay, 100 back- stroke, 100 breastroke and 400 freestyle relay. He won both individual events and was on the final winning relay team. Also for the Tigers: Ryan Goble was a triple winner; Ryan Pitcavage, Aaron Bartron and Jake Smith were double win- ners; and Tom Kolodiezski took first in diving. Schutz needed a reversal midway through the third period and two back points with 13 seconds to go for a 7-6 decision. : Jared Kopechne (125) and Andy Josuweit (152) also won for the Black Knights. E2 i i Students aid Head Start families The 7th and 8th grade students at Lake-Lehman Junior-Senior High School collected $800 to donate to Head Start. The Junior High School class officers were responsible for organizing the collection. The money raised was used to purchase Thanksgiving food bas- kets for 15 local families. Rogers selected for All-Eastern Ensembles Wyoming Seminary junior Andrew Rogers of Trucksville has been selected to perform in the prestigious 2005 All- Eastern Honors Ensembles, which will perform at the Baltimore Convention Center King's Colleg in Baltimore, Maryland, on Pikul, March 5-6. Wasserott. Rogers will per- form with more than 600 musically talented high school students from the District of Columbia and 11 states of the Eastern region of the United States. Rogers plays the alto saxophone and was named to the All-Eastern Band. With assistance from Sem’s orchestra director Anthony J. Kubasek, Rogers will perform challenging music under the leadership of prominent conductors in the biennial event, organized by the Andrew Rogers Pharmacy. Kindergarten readiness at Lake-Lehman The Lake-Lehman School District announces the third installment of the Kindergarten Readiness Program for parents and pre-school children for the 2004-2005:school year. The pro- gram is scheduled for February 2, 3, and 4, and will feature “Nutrition and Health.” Faculty from each building will conduct presentations. They will include an explana- tion of proper nutrition for chil- dren and also kindergarten screening procedures for regis- tration in March. Separate activities are intended for the children. Parents and children are invited for lunch in the cafe- teria following the presenta- tion. Fun, hands-on activities will be provided to promote the learning of basic academic skills and concepts, problem solving, sharing and respect for others. I'm Big Now is state licensed with all curriculum and staff approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
