Hossage, wrestling up a weight class at 145 1b. essentially sealed the match for the Knights. “With [returning District 2 champion] Mike Prater still to wrestle, Justin's mission was to keep the score close — to not get decked,” said Wilson. HETTES (continued from page 7) “Breaking the school record for wins would be pretty cool,” said Hettes. “There aren’t many people who have the chance to do some- thing like that.” Hettes has his sights set on an even loftier goal, a trip to the state championships in Hershey. “The 100 wins and the school record are nice, but my ultimate goal for this season is to get to states,” Hettes explained. “I've been close a couple of times and I'd really like to end my career with a trip to states.” : First-year head coach Dan Natitus thinks Hettes has what it takes to make that goal a reality. “John is a hard worker and he is outstanding on his feet,” said Natitus. “He is very determined to make his senior sea- son his best yet.” Hettes, who started wrestling in kindergarten with the Back ~ Mountain Wrestling Club, knows he has some work to do to accomplish his goal. “The main thing I need to do is work on my defense on my feet,” he explained. “You can’t give up any easy takedowns at regionals and I have to make sure that I concentrate for the full six minutes.” ' Hettes and heavyweight Alan Pugh are the only seniors on the 14-man roster, but with the likes of P.J. Precone (103), Sean McMahon (135), Josh Anderson (160), Brian Goeringer (171), Adam Sulewski (189) and John McCue (215) in the lineup he thinks the future looks bright for the Mountaineers pro- gram. “Our team is young, but I think we have several guys who could do well at districts,” said Hettes. “Things our going pretty well.
