UMC Epiphany service at Dallas The Epiphany service, an annual district-wide event, will be held Sunday, Jan. 9 at 3 p.m. at the Dallas United Methodist Church. It is a celebration of the coming of the three wisemen to see the Christ child. This year, donations will be accepted for the Homeless Women’s Shelter in Wilkes-Barre. The joint service will include participation by children, youth and adults from many of the United Methodist churches in the Wilkes-Barre District. In case of bad weather, the service will be held January 23. For more information, call 822-6817. Brown Baggers at Shavertown UMC The second Tuesday of each month several retired friends gath- er for lunch at Shavertown United Methodist Church, 163 N. Pioneer Ave. Shavertown. The group is called “Brown Baggers” because they bring a bag lunch. Drinks and dessert are provided. Anyone in the community is welcome to join them to taste food for | the body and for the soul.
