An illustration by Angela Trotta Thomas Art and photography exhibit for the holidays Angela Trotta Thomas, Lionel Trains official artist and photographer Mel Wolk combine their talents in “Scapes and Stories,” an exhibit that will evoke memo- ries of times past and a long- ing to experience new places and things. With the creation of single painting of a child in the 1950s playing with Lionel toy trains. Angela Trotta Thomas’ nostalgic style, reminiscent of simpler times, captured the hearts of toy train enthusiasts everywhere, so much so that Lionel made her the only licensed artist in their 100- year existence. Since then, Angela has created many more paintings of special memories for toy train lovers. The highlight came in 2000. After an absence of almost 40 years, the cover of the Lionel catalog featured a painting instead of a' photograph. This Centennial cover was created by Trotta Thomas. Her jour- ney as an artist did not end there. Since then she has cre- ated numerous other catalog covers for Lionel. Trotta Thomas has recently created Christmas memories with her paintings of Santa Claus. She has had numerous one- person exhibits in both pri- vate and public galleries and in 2000 was inducted into the Society of Illustrators.
