10 The Dallas Post SCHOOL Sunday, October 31, 2004 College adds master's degree for occupational therapists Occupational therapists from throughout the US. can now participate in a new post-profes- sional master’s degree program in occupational therapy at College Misericordia, Dallas, Pennsylvania. The program, designed for licensed, practic- ing occupational therapists, combines extensive use of dis- tance learning and face-to-face study in a model friendly to working adults. Classes begin in January 2005, but run year- round, so that students can enroll at various points during the year. The program is 30- credits and consists of two tracts, interdisciplinary study and pediatrics, and can be com- pleted in as few as two years. Classes are delivered online LCCC open house Nov. 6 using WebCT and combined with scheduled, twice-a-semes- ter, face-to-face instruction on weekends. The college also offers an adult friendly week- end program in occupational therapy for certified occupa- tional therapy assistants and those with a bachelor’s degree in another discipline wishing to start a second career as a licensed occupational therapist. Lake-Lehman Kindergarten R eadiness Math readiness program in November The Lake-Lehman School District has scheduled the sec- ond presentation of the Kindergarten Readiness Program for children planning to enter kindergarten next fall: The program will feature math readiness. Faculty from each building will conduct the presentation. The schedule is: Ross Elementary, Nov. 3 at 10 a.m; Lake-Noxen Elementary, Nov. ¢ Bishop O’Reilly’s Blue & Gold Club will host a Night at the Races Saturday, Nov. 6 at the Independent Fire Hall, Sprague Ave, Kingston. Doors open at 6 p.m. and post time is 7 p.m. Admission is $5 per person and a variety of snacks, foods, desserts, beer and soda will be served. Red Ribbon Week was held at the school when students’ drawings were displayed. GOH then submitted the two top vote getters to compete with schools in Pennsylvania. Winning fifth grade students from across the Commonwealth will have their art- work displayed on a 2005 calendar. Deadline for the “soldier” collection is Nov. 5. Stanton receives Elizabethtown merit scholarship Randalynn S. Stanton of Trucksville was one of more than 400 incoming students to receive a merit scholarship from Elizabethtown College. Stanton received the presidential schol- arship, a $13,000 award presented to students based on their high school academic achievement and test scores. Students must maintain a minimum grade point average each year to con- tinue to receive the award. Murphy leads orientation team at Susquehanna Robert Murphy of Dallas was an orientation team leader for the class of 2008 at Susquehanna University.
