Teens complete summer reading and ‘We the People’ books Several teens from the Back Mountain Memorial Library successfully completed the first annual summer reading pro- gram. for young adults, “Relax and Read.” The teens read books of their choice in addi- tion to numerous books of the “We the People Bookshelf.” As they completed the books, the teens wrote reviews that were posted in the library for other teens to read. Prizes were awarded. The library was awarded the 2004 “We the People Bookshelf” earlier in the sum- mer and incorporated the books in every summer reading program presented by the library. The Bookshelf is a col- lection of 15 books on the theme “courage.” The National Endowment for the Humanities in coopera- tion with the American Library Association offers the program to 'encotirage young'people to read and understand great lit- erature while exploring themes in American history. The books are divided according to grade level ‘®D t they are identified by “We People Bookshelf” bookplates.
