Times Leader Staff Sept. 27 — Bishop Hoban’s Matt Mileski edged Dallas star Joe Bevevino by one stroke to win his second consecutive Wyoming Valley Conference Pre-District Tournament at Fox Hill Country Club. Later Monday, at Irem Temple Country Club, Hoban, led by Miles- ki's 2-over-par 38, defeated Dallas 163-169 to win the WVC’s Central Division title. Wyoming Area sophomore Jessica Rydzewski was the girls pre-district medalist on Monday, firing a 91, edging Dallas’ Brittany Prater and Wyoming Seminary’s Emily Bold, the defending District 2 champion, by one stroke. In the pre-districts at Fox Hill, Mileski double-bogeyed the par4 18th to finish at 4-over 75, but Bevevino, a freshman who burst on the scene by winning the WVC Tom Tryba Preseason Tournament last month, was 4-over on the final three holes. He finished at 5-over 76. Bevevino had the day’s low score on the front nine (36). Hoban qualified the most boys into districts. Argents joining Miles- ki include Brandon Wills, who fin- ished ninth (81) and also recorded the lone ace of the day; Jeff Clemente (82) and Mike Clemente (83). ; Dallas qualified five boys for dis- tricts, including Bevevino, Ryan Franconi, who was fifth (78), John Stevens (82), Scott Grundowski (84) and Adam King )86).
