10 The Post SPORTS Anzalone sets college records Alana Anzalone of Shaver- town recently completed a record-setting career at Lafayette College. Anzalone, a Wyoming Semi- nary graduate who still holds the District 2 Class 2A record, broke Lafayette’s school records for 1-meter and 3-me- ter diving in her senior year. She named the school’s top diver as a freshman and a sen- ior. She was a three-year letter winner, taking her sophomore year off to study in Florence, Italy, and was a medalist at the Patriot League Championships as a freshman and a senior. She also made the league’s aca- demic honor roll. Anzalone, the daughter of William and Tina Anzalone of Shavertown, Kingston Town- ship, is attending the Widener University School of Law. Hanover 42, Lake-Lehman 7 Sept. 3 — New coach Greg Myers’ debut wasn’t pretty, as Hawkeyes backs ran wild be- hind a dominating offensive line in the Wyoming Valley Conference football season opener. Chris Boyle caught six passes for 87 yards and Schofield caught a 35 yarder as well as the touch- down toss. It was a different story on the ground, where Hanover gained more than three times the Knights’ yardage. Arcangeli was the leading gainer with 30 yards in 11 carries. Tunkhannock 28, GAR 13 Sept. 3 — Tunkhannock was solid in every aspect of the game, handling GAR in a Wyoming Valley Conference game at Wilkes-Barre Memori- al Stadium. Ross also added touchdown runs of 1 and 2 yards, and Farr scored from 41 yards out to give the Tigers a 28-7 lead with 5:23 left in the game. Defensively, Tunkhannock sacked GAR quarterback Mike Parcinski five times and kept tailback Justin Kennedy in check for the most part.
