Thaler 71, a graduate of Tunkhannock High School, was the keynote speaker at the College Misericordia annual academic convocation. She was presented with an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree during the cere- mony. Thaler addressed the 318 members of the Class of 2008, en- couraging them to create the environment and opportunities that will enable them to discover who they are, and decide who they want to become. “Your future is not about what kind of job you're going to get. With your life expectancy, you'll have many and very var- ied jobs in your lifetime. Don’t limit yourself to thinking just in terms of work. Think in bigger terms,” said Thaler. “Think about creating something, inventing something, giving of yoruself, leading and even sacrificing. College Misericordia homecoming week College Misericordia’s Homecoming 2004 celebration, with the country and western theme, “Deep in the Heart of Dallas,” will run September 22-26 ith a variety of events for students, staff and alumni, including the alumni golf outing at the Shadowbrook Inn and Resort, Tunkhannock, on Friday, Sept. 24. The homecom- ing parade will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25 beginning at the Dal- las Shopping Center at 9 a.m. The parade will follow last year’s route, taking Route 415 to Lake Street to the North Gate en- trance. Spectators are encouraged to line the streets and enjoy the floats and displays designed by students. Following the parade, the alumni office will hold an afternoon reception on campus for all alumni, followed by an evening cock- tail party at Stax & Co. in Dallas.
