Square dance/polka party for charity The fourth annual Volunteers of America Square Dance and Polka Party will be held from 7-11 p.m. on Friday, August 27 at the Irem Temple Country Club in Dallas. Former Luzerne County Commissioner Joseph “Red” Jones will again be calling the square dance. Over the years, Jones has been recognized by the U.S. House of Representatives, the PA Legislature and the Governor’s Office as one of the top square dance callers in the state. Eddie Derwin and the Polka Naturals, one of the best polka bands in the region, will also be providing the entertainment. The square dance will specifically support Dial-A-Driver, a transportation program for the elderly and handicapped; the Hartman Home for at-risk youth, and the Caring Alternatives Pantry.
