Tue POST Sunday, February 22, 2004 7 Sports Local skiers stand out at Ski Windham Two local families recently captured medals in the Jeep Nastar ski races at Windham Mountain ski area in the Catskill mountains. Corey Ehret won two silver medals while brothers Chris and Brendan each copped a silver. Brett Wanek received three silver medals and sister Kayla captured a silver and a bronze. Nastar is the largest recreational ski race program in the world, with over 120 resorts across the nation participat- ing. BOYS BASKETBALL WVC Division lll championship Bishop O’Reilly 47, Mey- ers 45 Feb. 13 — Clinging to a two- point lead with six seconds re- maining, the Queensmen switched to a man-to-man de- fense and held off Meyers, 47- 45, to capture the champi- onship. O'Reilly (21-4) won the Divi- sion III second-half champi- onship, while the Mohawks (20-5) captured the first-half ti- tle to set up the showdown. Tim Crossin hit a baseline jumper to give O'Reilly a 47-45 lead with 1:08 remaining. Crossin finished with 13 points to lead a balanced scor- ing attack for O'Reilly. Josh Aciukewicz chipped in 10. Baseball final registration March 1 Back Mountain Baseball will hold final signups for the 2004 season on Monday, March 1, 6-8 p.m. at the Dallas American Le- gion. Registration is open to players of all lev- els of play. To be eligible for signups, a player must reach the age of 6 on or before July 31, 2004. Registration fees are $45 for the first player, $30 for the second player, and $20 per player after that. Each player is being asked to either sell a box of candy, or pay an extra $20 per player instead. There are separate registration fees for Ju- nior and Senior League (ages 13 and up). The fee is $75 for the first player and $65 per play- er after that. There are no additional fundrais- ers for Junior and Senior League. If a registra- tion form was received in the mail, complete it before coming to registration. All players must have their Social Security number on their registration form. All new players to Back Mountain Baseball must also bring a birth certificate to registration for veri- fication of age. Following registration, there will be a public meeting at 8 p.m. All coaches and parents are invited to attend. Volunteers are still needed for coaches, umpires, concession stand and grounds. Board members will be available at registration and the public meeting for ques- tions about volunteering and the league in general. KT Raiders registration Kingston Township mini-football/cheer- leader registration will be held Saturday, March 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Shaver- town fire hall, N. Main Street. Children ages 5-13 living in Kingston Town- ship, Franklin Township, Dallas Township, and Wyoming interested in playing football or cheerleading.
