Staff report MOSCOW — Dallas freshman Lisa Giacometti won gold in the 3,200 at the District 2 Class 2A Track and Field Championships at North Pocono High School on May 15. The Dallas 3,200 relay team of junior leadoff Jamie Stanish, freshman second leg Robin Razawich, Giacometti and junior anchor Whitney Adams dropped 16 seconds off its seed time to win in 9:55.0. That was just less than four seconds off the 18- year-old meet record held by Meyers. The Mountaineers were the only sub-10:00 foursome and broke the school record by two seconds. : “We were confident. Our goal was to beat the school record,” said Stanish. “We were all trying to get personal records.” Giacometti, who emerged as one of the top cross country runners in the area last fall, used spurts off the turns, espe- cially during the fifth and sixth laps, to win the 3,200 in a per- sonal-best time of 11:32.25. Colleen Mahon is All-American Drew: University sophomore Colleen Mahon, a Lake-Lehman High School graduate, was named an NCAA East Region All-American in softball. Mahon batted .358 for the Rangers (27-13), who won their second consecutive MAC Free- dom Conference regular-season title and earned a berth in the ECAC South playoffs. She set a school record with 18 stolen bases on 21 attempts. She had two doubles and 10 RBI and scored 18 runs. Mahon, a behavioral science major, is also a dean’s list stu- dent at Drew. Clemson becomes youngest Black Belt Christopher Clemson, age 10; recently passed a grueling 75 minutes of physical and mental tests in American Kenpo Karate to become the school’s youngest ever recipient of a black belt. Clemson has studied martial arts over the direction of Sifu Gary Barnes since age 5. Christopher is a fourth grader at Dallas Elementary School.
