The Dallas Post Dallas, PA L Thursday, January 16, 2008 5 ICHRISTMAS TREE PICKUPS Dallas Township Dallas Township's Road De- partment will begin picking up Township residents’ Christmas trees on Monday, January 20 and will continue until Friday, January 24 - weather permit- ting. The Christmas trees will be recycled as mulch. There are no set dates or times for individual street pick-up. Residents are asked to have their trees placed by the road curb. Residents also have the option of dropping their Christmas trees off themselves at the Township Recycling Site. Kingston Township The Kingston Township Board of Supervisors has announced the annual Christmas tree col- lection program will be conduct- ed through January 24. Resi- dents are asked to have the trees ) © the curbside for pick-up. The Christmas tree pick-up will be between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Township Public Works De- partment will collect the trees for mulching. Residents are asked to remove plastic bags before placing at the curb. Residents may also drop off trees at the composting site located behind the Public Works Facility. The pine mulch will be avail- able at the Township composting site for pick-up and use by resi- dents. Site hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.-m., and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information call 696- 3809. Classes will meet every Wednesday from 1-4 p.m. at the office in West Pittston. This program consists of a volunteer training course designed to provide experienced home gardeners with the infor- mation and skill necessary to share their experience and knowledge with others. In exchange for 30 hours of indoor instruction, candidates must agree to donate 50 hours of volunteer service to Penn State Cooperative Extension within the first year. Volunteer activities might include conduct- ing garden clinics, demonstra- tion gardens, answering home horticulture calls in the office and more. Dr. Anthony Liuzzo Walsh was one of approxi- mately 500 Marines and Sailors from the 11th MEU and the USS Belleau Wood Amphibious Ready Group that participated in the largest humanitarian as- sistance project conducted in East Timor in the last two years. The volunteers set up medical and dental clinics where they treated the local citizens and worked on schools and other buildings.
