10 Dallas Post Dallas, PA Thursday, January 2, 2002 7th Graders get payback win over Dunmore The DYB 7th grade boys tour- nament team came of age with a 55-52 win over mighty Dunmore in the opening round of the Hoop City, USA Tournament. DYB had all nine players score and used excellent passing to avenge a 45 point loss to Dun- more in 2000. Mike Kravitsky led the way with 19 points, while Patrick Murray and Kyle Arnaud had 9 each. Mike Gross added 4 and Matt Alfano 1. DYB began play in the Old Forge Holiday Tournament with a 60-32 loss to Old Forge. Mark Covert scored 7 points and Peter Steve 4. The team stayed alive at Old Forge by defeating Sacred Heart of Wilkes-Barre 46-25. Mike Kravitsky led the superior Dallas fast break attack with 17 points, followed by Peter Steve with 9. In the Wilkes-Barre area league, the 7th graders lost a close game to the Meyers Mo- hawks 31-27. Mark Covert led the way with 13 points, while Eric Tucker and Joe Bevevino led the defense and rebounding. Covert’s 16 points lead Fieldhouse to victory In the week's best game, Field- house edged Renaissance Center for Plastic Surgery 44-40 re B={0) 4 behind Mark Covert’s 16 points. Burger King 54, Quality Collision 33 Tom Parrish scored a season high 19 points and Billy DeAnge- lo added 12 as Burger King im- proved it's record to 5-2 with a 54-33 win over Quality Collision. Snyder & Clemente 68, CSI 40 Brad Fagula scored 26 points and Brenden Carr 11 as Snyder & Clemente remained unbeaten with a 68-40 win over CSI Inter- national, Inc. Mike Gergel scored 10 and Alex Zamojski 7 for the winners. Brendan Delaney led CSI with 14 points while Harry Giacometti added 2. Morgan Stanley 69, Summit Pointe 49 Mike Kravitsky scored a game- high 35 points to lead Morgan Stanley over Summit Pointe Builders 69-49. Nick Barbose had 4 points for Morgan Stanley, while Kyle Arnaud led Summit Pointe with 26 points, including six three pointers. Zach Halbing also scored 6 points and Jason Darling 4. Quad Three Group 30, Eye Care Specialists 27 Kevin Gilbert scored 16 points and Ryan Hogan added 4 points in leading Quad Three Group to victory. Zachary Berger played good defense and led the team in steals. Eye Care Specialists was led by Austin Carr with 21 points and Alex Zubko added 6 points. Justin Hrabovski lead both teams in rebounds. Lehman (continued from page 9) He didn’t place at the TL invite last week and Lipski said the sophomore was in need of some “brain massaging.” The coaching staff's confidence-building helped Schutz in the final, as he major decisioned three-time Dis- trict 2 champion Adam Johnson of Lackawanna Trail 11-2. “The coaches told me I was go- ing to win,” Schutz said. “I was aggressive and had nothing to lose and it worked out.” Things didn’t look as if they'd work out for Schutz a minute into the bout, when Johnson was poised for a takedown, but Schutz somehow flipped John- son over top of himself and got two points of his own. He went on to score five points in each of the first two periods. “He shot in and I just used my instinct,” said Schutz. Valley West also won, beating Northwest Area 72-67, and will face Dallas in Monday night's championship game. Dallas cruised past Lake-Lehman, with Paul McCue leading the way with 29 points. Jeff Dick- son added 13 for the Mountaineers, followed by Mike Racoski with nine. McCue hit four 3- point shots, Dickson hit three and Racoski had one. Jared Sadowski led the Black Knights with buckets.
