10 Dallas Post Dallas, PA ' Thursday, December 26, 2002 Lake-Lehman finished second in the team standings at last weekend's Times Leader Invitational, held at College Misericordia. From left, front row: Matt Magee, coach; Willie Weber, 2nd place at 171; Matt Dragon, 1st place at 135; John Houssock, 3rd at 119; Jon Schutz, 4th at 125. Second row: Jeremy Schutz, 140; Dale Radginski, 152; Ryan Post, 7th at 130; Kelby Morgan, 112; Andy Josuweit, 130. Back row: Coaches Jason Maciejczak, Josh Kasenbach, Rick Hislop, Mike Tereska, Ed Turchin, Phil Lipski (head coach). Wrestling (continued from page 9) ninger to tie the score at 2 in the middle of the second period. With 36 seconds to go in the bout, Dragon ducked under Renninger and slid around for control to score a takedown and a 4-2 lead. However, with just seconds remaining, Renninger wound up on top of Dragon and nearly got control. Nearly on his back, Dragon was unsure what happened as time expired. “I got a little scared. I didn’t know if I won or lost,” said Dragon, who came dangerously close to giving up a reversal or back points. Dragon, who enjoyed a stand- out freshman year but failed to make states last season, is hop- ing the tournament will lead to better things. ‘I'm happy I could wrestle well and prove myself,” Dragon said. “This will give me some confidence, but I can’t slack off.” The Riley-Weber bout was a study in contrasting styles. Ri- ley, at 6-foot-5-plus, is tall and lean while Weber is stocky and chiseled. It was paramount for one wrestler to force their will on the other. “I'm not going to change my style for every kid I wrestle,” Back Mountain U-12 champions The Back Mountain Devils (Orange Crush) U-12 girls soccer team recently won the league and playoff championship, The team fin- ished its fall season undefeated. From left, first row: LeighAnn Amico, Stacey Stepniak. Second row: Amy Panzetta, Megan Hine, Mariel Adams, Kristen Miller. Third row: Rachel Miller, Julie Manorek, Kim Konnick, Rachel Litchman, Sarah Flannery, Katelyn Confer, Alex Hackett. Fourth row: Coach Tom Miller, Lauren Henry, Samantha Backus, Coach Tom Amico. Back Mountain U-9 champions The Back Mountain Dominators U-9 boys soccer team recently won the league and playoff championship. The team finished its fall sea- son undefeated. From left, first row: Damon Szatkowski, Mark Westfield, Noah Kus- trin, James Duffy, Jared Brady. Second row: James Roccograndi, Brian Stepniak, Corey Ehret, Christopher Ehret, Ryan Zapoticky. Third row: Coaches Ben Stepniak, Nick Zapoticky. v said Riley. “I knew it was going to be tough. The outcome went my way this time.” Weber came out firing, scor- ing a takedown just 10 seconds into the bout but Riley hung tough and eventually turned a 3-1 first-period deficit into a 9- 3 lead before hitting a power- half and matting Weber. Riley seemed stronger than he was as a district runner-up last season, which obviously played a role in his ability to wrap up a very strong Weber. Other Lake-Lehman place winners were John Houssock, third at 119; Jon Schutz, fourth at 125 and Ryan Post, seventh at 130. This article appeared in origi- nal form in the Times Leader.
