Radzinski wins javelin events A Lake-Lehman track coach sets example Ed Radzinski, head track and field and cross country coach at Lake-Lehman High School, has won the javelin competition at five all-comer track and field meets this spring and summer. He won at Delaware Valley with a throw of 226'7"; at Franklin & Marshall, 217°7”; at Rowan Uni- versity, 2285"; at Lower Dauphin, 232’3”; and at Muh- lenberg College with a career- best 233'6”. Radzinski will compete in two more events, at Lehigh Universi- ty and Rowan. He will spend the fall and winter on a weightlifting and plyometric program and re- sume throwing in March. Michelle Berley wins 3 silvers Michelle Berley of Shavertown won five silver medals at the Keystone State Games held re- cently at Northeast Gymnastics. The 12-year-old level 8 gymnast took second place on each event; floor, beam, vault and uneven bars. Her best event was floor exercise with a score of 9.225. She also placed second all around with a score of 35.00AA. She is now qualified to compete in the national meet in 2003 in Connecticut. Michelle won a Silver medal last year in St. Louis, Missouri on the balance beam competi- tion. Michelle trains at Northeast Gymnastics Academy, Wilkes- Barre. She is coached by Ms. Lori Dexter and will compete at Level 9 this season. Sara Skammer received two medals in gymnastics, Level 6 at the Keystone State Games. She placed first on floor exercise and second on vault. She is a mem- ber of Northeast Gymnastics Academy. Sara also received medals in diving. She placed first on the three meter board and second on the one meter board. She is a member of the WVW Fast Springboard Diving Club and is coached by Rob Jacobs. Sara attends the fourth grade at Dallas Elementary School. Dallas Youth Basketball will hold signups for boys and girls winter leagues from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14 and from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17 at Wycallis Elementary. Players entering grades 3-8 who reside within the Dallas School District are eligible. Each player will be required to take part in the annual fundraiser, with a buy-out option available.
