12 The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Thursday, March 21, 2002 Fulton (continued from page 1) grew close to those kids, and was able to watch them grow. “He was a devoted husband, proud father and he lived for to- day. He was the greatest,” said Mary Jo. “He enjoyed working with the players, parents and coaching with Pat (McCue) at Dallas so much.” Fulton worked as a correc- tions officer at the State Correc- tional Institute at Dallas for the past several years, and is sur- vived by his wife and daughter. In an interview with some of the players Fulton coached at Dal- las, this is what they had to say: “Coach Fulton is one of the strongest people I know. He showed up for practice everyday when he was sick, and his personality, confidence and strength to fight through his cancer inspired the team.” Dan Mulhern, Senior, guard “Coach Fulton was a great guy. He would help anyone out no matter what they needed, and he was one of the nicest guys I've ever met.” Blake Saba Senior, guard “He always told us to come to every game and be prepared, and was never afraid to tell us what we were doing right or wrong.” “Herb Bressler: Senior, forward “I looked forward to practices and the games, because of Coach Fulton. I wouldn't want anyone else as my coach but him.” Jeff Dickson Junior, guard “He had a big impact on my life both on and off the court. I could always hear him on the bench talking to me during the game. He took great pride in everything he had.” Paul McCue Junior, guard “You could talk to Coach Fulton about anything. He taught me a lot about basketball, and a lot of other stuff.” Mike English Junior, forward i : i i : & i § § y # 7 Back Mountain Athletics recently received their trophies for winning the 2001 major league softball championship. Butcofski has until March 30 to impress his coaches enough to get one of the Pioneer roster spots, and feels that his ankle it not a serious problem. “I am looking a step slower right now during the drills be- cause of my ankle,” said Butcof- ski. “These guys are getting reps and I'm not. It’s not good for me, but I think everything will be all right.” Although his professional fu- ture is uncertain, and his back is to the wall once again, don’t feel sorry for Rich Butcofski — he doesn’t. He has been through all this before. C ‘Boxing Baskethall’ at Lehman-Jackson The Lehman-Jackson Elemen- tary basketball program recent- ly ended the season with its an- nual “Boxing Basketball” game.
